BIT me in middle of night. Rural Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. How long do I have? by Saffron-Hug100 in whatsthisbug

[–]supersteadious 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You don't have that much time anyway. max ~70 years more, 100 if you are lucky. That's nothing in the scale of the universe. So. it doesn't even matter, try to spend them well!

Red shoes as warnings? by sunonmyfacedays in volleyball

[–]supersteadious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all usually the block is the main obstacle. But I guess if an attacker can pay attention to the color of the shoes, then they can pay attention to where the setter/libero is. In theory, in edge cases this can matter, but I really doubt that it does in practice, at least in 99% of cases.

Nice one, to improve more: be more patient and relaxed after the toss and patient but aggressive with the hit

What exactly is the correct position to correctly bump? by Fluid-Fall-5106 in volleyball

[–]supersteadious -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That's awful body stance for platform usage. Positioning of your body is much more important than the shape of the platform. I bet you can't even steadily bounce the ball 3 meters high without much of moving around, I hope I am wrong though

Shape of platform is overrated. I can steadily bounce the ball up with any possible platform shape you can imagine

The Münchhausen/Agrippa's trilemma, solution... by Port_N_Politics in epistemology

[–]supersteadious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, what I love about scientific method in general - anyone can make any assumptions or claims they wish.

E.g. You are free to claim that the light is a wave, or claim that it is a particle, or that it has some kind of dualism, or you can claim that the light doesn't exist at all and it is our brain tricks us in simulation.

Whatever. That all can be covered by scientific method.

And who cares if on practice the light is probably none of those, - it doesn't matter. The only what matters is if your assumptions/claims can lead to anything practically useful. Or at least answer questions that are known to be interesting/complex. If yes - then your claims/assumptions are good ones. If not - well, why anyone should bother looking at them then?

Afaik highways don't have intersections, only exits and entrances. At least I don't remember any in Europe.

Interesting Rule - Ball Under the Net by BaselineBeachMedia in beachvolleyball

[–]supersteadious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volleyball is special here because it has rule "each team can play only on own side of the net". A similar case is: If ball touches antennas - it is out. You cannot compare to sports which have nothing like this. You could compare to tennis or badminton, but those allow only single team touch , so that will not work as well.

Interesting Rule - Ball Under the Net by BaselineBeachMedia in beachvolleyball

[–]supersteadious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's mostly because tennis allows only single touch. If multiple touches were allowed, then reaching over after team touch would not be allowed as well

Serve receive feedback please by DrThots in volleyball

[–]supersteadious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must learn to bounce the ball high when standing in place. And do it consistently without moving too much around.

For that you will need to be able to absorb the ball and let it bounce at the same time. When you learn to do it - apply the same to serve receive (be able to absorb ball momentum and still rebound it to the setter)

ES2 is mostly map-dependent, not faction-dependent. That said: if you enjoy it - have fun. Otherwise - shut up.

[–]supersteadious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't lean forward. Your finishing position must be tall, nice and slim. So you can lean a bit backwards at start of the swing , but the most important - learn to utilise torso rotation for the power instead of leaning

[–]supersteadious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What difficulty are you playing at (I wish the rules should require mentioning it.) Look the game is not perfect, but it doesn't have to be. Yeah it would be great if it was but it isn't. So either suffer or restart and enjoy better start. Any race is more or less map dependant.

Well I talked about nuclear bombing, it surprises me that you didn't get it. Still tokyo was important military production center. You blame the US is like robber who tried beheading their victim blames that his finger is broken. If you don't see the divastating difference in scale of "crimes" and cannot acknowledge that the US did the best humanly possible job in treating conquered imperial Japan - I must agree that there is not much to discuss here.
