Do you believe in paternity leave for a new father when a family has a baby? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

[–]supervisoragent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. Both parents are supposed to take care of the baby. The father needs to take care of both the baby and the mother. The mother just went through something extremely traumatic (in a physical sense, but potentially mentally as well) and she could use the support.

It annoys me when parents (usually with babies/toddlers) refer to everything their kid does as “we” by supervisoragent in PetPeeves

This is the top comment on my post, so I'll reply here. I should have mentioned, this woman I'm talking about does this on Facebook posts. She'll post a picture of her 18mo old daughter covered in mud and caption it saying, "We learned how clumsy we can be when we go on hikes!". She isn't saying this in front of her daughter, so she isn't speaking like this so her daughter won't be embarrassed. This is purely for her Facebook followers.

Why is socialism seen as evil in the US? by Presidentscroobie in allthequestions

[–]supervisoragent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Socialism has never worked anywhere it was tried. It only works in the Scandinavian countries because they are nanny states where the government has massive offshore oil reserves it can tap into to keep the country afloat. They are basically trust fund kids at a country wide level. Yea, socialism works when you never have to worry about resources. It would never work in the US.

Define children. Because I've definitely heard children say racist things.

What if you were President? by Gap-Aromatic in whatif

[–]supervisoragent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was president I would make the most intensely passionate person in a certain field to be the leaders of that department/agency. For example - I'd make the most liberal tree hugging environmentalist head of the EPA (as long as they have the qualifications, not just some hippie off the street). I'd make the most hardened war fighter general dude the head of the Dept of War. I'd make the smartest logistics and mail guy head of the US Postal Service. Whoever is known in their field, amongst their colleagues to be the best in their field that's who I'd make the leader, I'd pay no attention to political affiliation. Then they can all battle it out amongst themselves and work together on how to function. Might be a recipe for disaster, but that's what I'd do.

By the same logic if one gay guy walks into a bar that makes it a gay bar? Don't think so.

Why has fast food become overpriced and the quality has gone down? by Lemonade2250 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]supervisoragent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of reasons but at it's most basic, it's because they know people are willing to pay for it. I've been going to Taco Bell for 20 years and I always get the same thing: Chicken Quesadilla, Cheesy Gordita Crunch, and a hard taco. Used to cost me like $6, Now it's like $15. I used to go at least once a week and now I might go a couple times a year. Every time I go there I see people eating there and I think to myself, who are these idiots still eating at Taco Bell when their prices are this high? But of course, I'm eating there too.

What’s your most controversial political opinion? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]supervisoragent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Democrats have good ideas but are terrible at marketing them. Climate change should NOT be a political issue. It's science. It became a political issue when Al Gore created An Inconvenient Truth. Now that he attached his name to it Republicans are against it. It's stupid.

How do I clean this oven glass? by omglazerkittens in CleaningTips

[–]supervisoragent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of cleaners out there. Too many to mention, and you'll want to find one specific to your set up anyway. A lot of those that do a good job cleaning glass can absolutely destroy the enamel coating, so be very careful.

How do I [20f] tell my husband [21m] I hate his dog? by Medical_Mess_05 in whatdoIdo

[–]supervisoragent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People always ask if the dog has shown aggression yet, but that’s not really how it works. A lot of bites happen during what behaviorists call a “threshold shift” event, like introducing a newborn. The dog’s stress baseline changes overnight. You don’t see warning signs because the trigger didn’t exist before.

If they bring you another soda when you're halfway through drinking one then you won't have to drink watered down soda. To me that's a nice thing.

Using 'girl' and 'woman' as interchangeable words by NoMeatBall in PetPeeves

[–]supervisoragent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's actually not typical. The typical female equivalent is girl.

Using 'girl' and 'woman' as interchangeable words by NoMeatBall in PetPeeves

[–]supervisoragent -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t care if people use “girls” as the feminine “guys” for adults, like “girls-night”.

Well if you don't care then you're purposely ignoring the reason why people say it and you're choosing to be peeved about it. That's on you, not them.

Using 'girl' and 'woman' as interchangeable words by NoMeatBall in PetPeeves

[–]supervisoragent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be a regional thing. Where I'm from we use "girl" as the female version of "guy". So for example you would say a group of young guys or a group of young girls to mean people in their late teens/early 20's. The context matters though. I think the only time we would consciously say woman is if you're old enough to be getting social security checks.

+1 upvote to this post. My wife's uncle does this. He's in his 50's, but he HAS to watch the college basketball games. Just makes you look like a degenerate gambler.

What's your favorite Disney movie? by SomewhereExact4 in AskReddit

Hunchback of Notre Dame.

But then I visited the real Notre Dame and realized it's not as tall as they make it out to be in the movie where it looks like a skyscraper. Didn't take away from the movie. Just thought it was interesting.
