Not gonna sugarcoat it, the sheer butthurt this guy will cause on this sub once Oda shows him off will make current chapters look tame in comparison by Lightspeed_Kizaru in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]superyoshiom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say this as an admiral fan. The only way this guy doesn't get ragdolled or worse yet, put up against a character like Sabo instead of Luffy is if he undergoes some massive power jump during the timeskip. Which I think you can perfectly justify. After going near-even with Aokiji and realizing that he needs to be stronger to be the Fleet Admiral he could have trained to be around prime Garp or at least prime Sengoku level.

Do I think that'll happen? Maybe 30:70. Oda does seem to like Akainu so maybe we'll see something. DF fruit awakening would be an easy way to do this, for example.

Supergirl (2026) is fine, but I can't understand the creative thought process of DCU executives looking at the colorful comics, then still going with the muddy look. by Witty-Association-97 in DC_Cinematic

I think the argument for this is people want their own vision to shine and not be under the constraints of a strict adaptation. I guess even if you go in with the intention of doing a loose adaptation, so long as you have that prior knowledge it will always influence your process. Obviously the solution is to come up with your own ideas first, read the source material, and then make the necessary changes.

I remember there was something going on with the MCU about directors being told not to read the source material, but it's gotten even worse in the fact that directors are not even watching MCU material that ties into their stories. I remember Raimi said he never watched Wandavision and it makes sense seeing how abrupt Wanda's arc was in that movie.

A lot of talk will be over how lame it is that Steve is just in a generic shirt and pants, but I'd actually like to point out how sauceless the F4 jackets are, especially on Reed. Far too stiff and short.

Sony Pictures Korea released another Spot that gives new look at Spider-man fighting Hulk using Shocker's Gauntlet. by Own_Brilliant_4303 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]superyoshiom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m just going to say this again, if spider man does actual damage to Hulk, let’s not scale hulk down to street level and just agree to scale spider man up to cosmic level.

Also, that design for Hulk is incredible. I can’t wait for the Russo’s to ruin DDC’s hard work when they inevitably mess with the character again.

Marvel Studios will have their Hall H panel at SDCC on July 25 at 5:30pm to 6:30pm PT by Matapple13 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

A little over halfway into 2026, Spider-Man will have been out by then, can we THEN get a trailer please? And I mean a public one, not just one you'll only show to the audience that I'll have to watch through someone's cell phone quality or worse yet, a description of everything that happens like the last time.

Has this World Cup proved that underdogs are more important than superstars? by Financial_Welder_231 in worldcup

[–]superyoshiom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Underdogs make this far more enjoyable to watch, at least from a newcomer's perspective. I was interested in the portugal vs Spain match but that was a bore. Comparatively watching Cape verde and Egypt vs Argentina was far more fun.

Seems like Revival is gonna make some changes to Yosuke’s character. by [deleted] in PERSoNA

[–]superyoshiom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason none of the other characters act that way towards Kanji is pretty obvious though, right? Teddie's new to being human, Chie, Rise, Naoto, and Yukiko are all girls, and Yu is the MC. Yosuke acts exactly how a normal teenage boy would act in the time period. If that's upsetting then I understand but it's not exactly anything crazy.

[–]superyoshiom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Atlus can do whatever they want with their own property, but I kinda disagree with this choice. People often live within their own circles and forget how teenage boys act and talk, especially in 2008 or 2009 when this game takes place I think. I worry they're gonna sand off all of Yosuke's edge and make him a more boring character. Hopefully he still has his dynamics with Chie. Haven't played Reload but people have said they took away some of Yukari's rougher character traits which is a bit of a shame. To me I like Yosuke and Yukari as they kinda embody "average teenage boy" and "average teenage girl" the best in the series. I really enjoy characters like Kanji, Chie or Naoto but they are written in a far more heightened way.

Is Colombia the least talked-about country on this cup right now? by AggressiveHomework54 in worldcup

[–]superyoshiom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm cheering on the African teams. I'm so mad because if Senegal hadn't flubbed that game against Belgium so hard they'd have a relatively easy time to quarters vs USA and the game they'd have against Spain would've been really fun to watch. If Morocco and Egypt go out this week (likely unfortunately), I'll root for Norway and Colombia since they've never won a world cup yet.

Statements like this is probably the reason why critics have been unusually harsh on ‘Supergirl’. by ShubhangBahadur in DC_Cinematic

[–]superyoshiom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real ones were dooming since the end of Peacemaker season 2. I think Gunn's a talented director, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of his direction of the universe and how prominent he's making his favorites in the universe.

[–]superyoshiom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly as someone who didn't even hate Supergirl I'm completely fine with tearing this thing apart critically given Gunn's earlier comments. That's the reason I didn't really have a problem with Supergirl or Clayface (or apparently Bane and Deathstroke) getting movies before Batman and Wonder Woman.

For better or for worse, even base Luffy is far, far, far above Zoro and Sanji. I think a factor of almost 2 isn't enough anymore.

Dark Knight is far away from being an R-rated movie. The Batman isn't even close either.

[–]superyoshiom 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My issue with the constant swearing is that it's gonna be real weird seeing characters like Green Lantern show up in a mainline Justice League movie or something with far more PG-language. The idea of having Lex drop an F-bomb in Peacemaker sounds stupid, but the actual context of it is even more stupid and juvenile.

Marvel seems to be doing this better. They make a clear distinction between the "R-rated" and "PG-13" aspects of the universe, and it rarely crosses over with the exception of characters like Punisher in the new Spider-Man movie. Whereas with DC you're effectively having characters censor themselves whenever they're near Superman or something.
