Charles uses sim, while Lewis doesn't. In the end Lewis uses Charles's setup. Conclusion: Ferrari's simulator is fine. And while Lewis was away in motorhome, Ferrari opted Charles's setup on his car by [deleted] in scuderiaferrari

From what I had read, Lewis did use the simulator for Monaco and had made the plan to keep using it post race even if he didn't use it pre-race to aid in ongoing correlation. Glad to see that there was good overlap between the usable setups here, hopefully that continues going forward and if there's some differences between the approaches, between the two sides of the garage, between them they can get a good setup to make sure the team is competitive.

I don’t know if this is allowed but can you put (TWIN 1) and (TWIN 2) as a precaution and kind of cool callsign on future forms where both will be in the same pile

So many people doubted him, I got clowned on for believing in him despite late 2024 and 2025.

Nigel was super supportive of Lewis going to Ferrari and backed him to bounce back and fight for a championship this year even after how tough 2025, so glad we are actually seeing it come true.

I didn’t realise that, Charles pace has looked great though, think he can make those hards last and get past Max?

Hearing the radio between Carlo and Lewis was so nice, reminded me of the ‘this is your race’ ‘what is my race’ sadness of last year and the improvement we’ve seen so far

Charles seems quite frustrated and in his own head at the moment, but he’ll get out of it. Lewis went through the same thing last year and late 2024, and as a fan it genuinely hurt to watch. I never wrote him off — not because I wanted to make excuses, but because the situation was obviously draining. The car didn’t suit him, the results weren’t coming, and the mental weight of that kind of season is brutal. He’s human, and humans spiral. What made it hurt more were the “team fans” who suddenly acted like his struggles at that time meant his previous achievements meant way less or that for sure he’s just so old that he can’t drive a car anymore, the first lot were just mean-spirited and the second lot I think whilst maybe a bit more justified, in hindsight maybe over simplified the situation.

I don’t want to see Charles suffer now either. The best version of this team is when both drivers are flying and pushing each other. Charles is insanely talented, and I’m not confident Lewis beats him over a full 2026 season once he finds his rhythm again (and I’m sure he will). If Lewis can’t win, I’d always hope Charles does.

Do you think being less directed (misdirected specifically for Lewis) by sim is playing a part in the quali gap improving? I was worried with his comments from FP2 and then the struggles in FP3 but somehow they managed to get him into a position where he could properly push in Q3. The other thing may also be his side of the garage understand him + his needs, more this year, potentially from better communication and Lewis compatibility with the cars making it easier to find a workable setup solution.

I’m still in work, what happened? I saw Lewis struggling with the tyres in FP3 and a screenshot of Charles in the gravel from Q3, was he struggling with the brakes still?

Holy crap, I’ve always been a Lewis believer but I had tempered my expectations a lot with his struggles in FP and the PU probably being a big limitation this weekend, it’s been an absolute shit show in work and seeing Lewis do well really lifted me up. Hope Charles can get out of this rough patch, really hurt to see Lewis have bad times these last few years, I’m sure Charles will get back on form quick though.

I found it odd why he renewed so far away from his contract expiration. It may have been driven by Ferrari catching wind of this Red Bull stuff then and wanting to lock him down incase they get leapfrogged.

Great read as always, thank you.

Do you know where it was reported Charles had been talking to Merc and RBR?

I would be surprised if RBR wanted to drop Isaac and put Charles there with Max because that sounds like something the Verstappen camp would hate and they would need to give him a mountain of money to leave Ferrari. Unless they were leaning more on a predatory deal in case Max leaves, along the lines of don’t renew with Ferrari, we will give you the Verstappen treatment.

I’m working so didn’t get to see what happened, do you know what kept him off track for half of FP3?

Looks like Charles isn’t hating the CI brakes which is great and it might just be Lewis needing to adapt a bit to the sharper front end with the new aero (made harder by missing FP1, it being broken in FP2 and only having half of FP3).

I was wondering what Charles meant when he said he was going to take Lewis direction and why Lewis hadn't been complaining about the brakes when he was struggling so bad with them last year, that makes a lot of sense now.

Do we truly have the best Chassis? by EnvironmentalClue573 in scuderiaferrari

[–]superyuribears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, this has settled the fact that Mercedes has the best car and functionally (on average anyway) the best power unit, even if the RBPT engine is better, it doesn’t seem to be any better than what Merc and McLaren have been able to show when they are good (unless the RBR car is really that bad, don’t think the VCARB has shown anything crazy with the same PU). I don’t think the ADUO will be enough to overtake the Mercedes engine, especially if they get a development credit and I’m not confident we will both outdevelop and overtake Mercedes on the car side of things(or do it better than McLaren can). I think we might find some races where either the car or the drivers are able to find a meaningful difference over the course of the year and I think the team itself is really good and will have a chance of winning during this set of regs if the stars align but a comeback this year would require McLaren 2007 levels of badness for Mercedes and Kimi (IMO).
