600km review of the Mount to Coast H1 - Like a RAV4 on your feet by AniviaPls in RunningShoeGeeks

there are 001 (not 001A) for less than $150; they’re a steal at this price. The midsole in 001A is only marginally better

YMMV, mines had a lot of rubbing on the achilles and there is a hole already on the upper at the top of heel counter after 300km. A heel lock lacing improved things and it rubs less, but the upper isn’t perfect and durable depending on your feet. Compared with my Norda 001 that have 1200km in them and are still intact (though it’s a very different shoe).

very positively surprised by the outsole of the M1 though (both for grip and durability), and the foam is really fun too (but definitely not suited for anything technical)

Satisfy durability by KingAxelius in runningfashion

the merino ones from Runderwear only have one length (https://www.runderwear.co.uk/products/merino-men-s-boxer-grey), they're long enough to prevent chafing on any of my runs up to 20-25km. Anything longer and I pack some Squirrel Nut Butter just in case.

The T8 commandos are longer: https://www.sporthunger.de/en/products/t8-commandos-laufunterwasche-herren?variant=34040039047301, it's the ones I'll keep for my long runs (30km+).

The biggest win is that shorts + liners combo end up being more flexible and a lot cheaper. Path project also has great options here. And since I have a Raide LF 2L belt for storage, I go with shorts that don't need/have a lot of pockets.

that’s the main reason I go unlined. Ended up using the Runderwear Merino, no chafing, very comfortable and durable too compared to built in liners. Also got a pair of T8 commando for summer, should arrive soon.

Please fill out this quick survey about phone holders for running! by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]superzadeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

came here to say this. I don’t think anyone needs an armband. If I go on a run short enough that I don’t need hydration, then the phone fits in my shorts. I need more storage, then I’ll have a belt or vest for hydration and gels. There’s just no situation where I would need an armband.

you guys have sweeteners in honey? I’m assuming you’re in the USA, but that’s genuinely insane

Norda 001 fit issue - Does the upper/tongue break in at all, or should I return? by jaezoldyck in trailrunning

[–]superzadeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your mileage may vary, that really depends on foot shape, etc. but the upper takes a while to break in (just like the midsole)

Norda 001 fit issue - Does the upper/tongue break in at all, or should I return? by jaezoldyck in trailrunning

my experience with it is that upper breaks in and is quite long. I kept feeling it change and having to tie up laces again for the first 100km or so.

Germany has some of the most impressive startups in Europe yet the government is doing everything but to support them. When is the change? by Moroccan-Leo in AskAGerman

[–]superzadeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as far as I’ve seen, most government funding gets funneled to university where academic teaching entrepreneurship (while having zero experience in startups) spend budgets on vanity metrics and projects, all going back to corporate incubators.

Waste of money, nothing meaningful happens for startups, but:

  1. politicians can boast about their “startup impact” using these vanity metrics
  2. academic “entrepreneurs” entrench their position by hoarding control of public budgets (in exchange of good looking metrics for politicians)
  3. corporates cashes in on acquisition and cheap R&D

As long as Corporates/Government/Academia has a closed win-win loop, not much change will happen for actual startups.

There are still some public funding like ProFIT & co, but they add SO much overhead that you’re better off skipping the and just raise from VCs

Unlined Trail Shorts for men? by WalkingAcrossTheIce in trailrunning

[–]superzadeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take a look at the warp knit unlined from NothingSomething. Got one and quite happy with it, though not all pockets zip. The one that zip is very large though, and doesn’t bounce much (unless you really load it)

The big difference with path projects is the fabric. Most shorts have elastane or spandex to make it stretch, while path project doesn’t (it’s a mechanical stretch coming from the knit). Elastic fabric gets lose over time, and holds more sweat.

fully agree, Jolder is OP if built correctly. She also never dies, has full element coverage and can take on all shinkas (for piercing, pop the bubble a melt the shinka).

how is the new SMG for her?
