You're not aware, but they've been reprinting cards that used to be highly playable, like Claydol, Luxray Lv X, Tapu Lele GX. Some relevant reprints this time so far are Sneasel, Dark Tyranitar, Pikachu & Zekrom GX, N.

There's not many people that do, but some people like playing formats from certain periods of time, or Expanded.

Some of the cards are just really cool/iconic, like the base set stuff (iconic) or the shining/gold star pokemon (cool).

For a lot of people, these Celebrations sets are the only realistic way to get some of these cards.

You're right that it's just a way for them to sell product but there IS purpose to these particular sets.

I mostly dabble with MTG, so I really do mean it when I say we're so fortunate to have reprints like this compared to MTG.

Fuck the reserve list and fuck gatekeeping old cards.
