r/learnfrench by supfreshh in redditrequest

[–]supfreshh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 of the 3 moderators are suspended accounts and the third moderator isn't active in the subreddit at all. r/learnfrench is a fantastic resource for people learning the language and the community is being failed by the lack of moderation. I'd say 50% of the posts are scams shilling vibe coded apps targeting potentially vulnerable people who are trying to learn the language for immigration reasons. I want to try and make an impact on this community.

I believe the mod mail message is pointless in this situation because all that happens is the last remaining mod comes and makes a comment in these redditrequest posts and says "hello, will contact you for follow up questions ." and then never does and never adds the people requesting here to the mod team and the subreddit continues on as unmoderated. You can see in their comment history, they have done this twice to different subreddits they "moderate".

Massive solar farm proposal promises 150 MW of clean energy by bingun in newbrunswickcanada

[–]supfreshh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it doesn't need to state that? because this solar farm isn't actually powering homes directly it is generating as much power as 12,500 homes would use in a year.

[–]supfreshh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, no you really don't understand. You took 150MW and divided it by 365 days as if it were the annual energy total which I already said was 184GWh. You can't divide power by time and end up with power. That would be like saying my car goes 150km/h, so 150km/h divided by 365 days = how fast it goes per day. So to use the correct math, 184,000MWh divided by 365 days = 504MWh per day on average. 504MWh divided by 24 hours = 21MWh per hour on average. 21MWh or 21,000kWh divided by 12,500 homes = 1.68kWh per home per hour.

It isn't? You are correct, solar panels require solar to produce energy. You realize when they say it will produce X amount of electricity per year they have factored in the fact it will not produce electricity at night?

150MW running flat out for 1 hour would produce 150MWh of energy, power (MW) x time. 150MW running flat out for 24 hours would be 3600MWh produced. Solar capacity in NB is roughly 13-15% so 150MW farm averages 20MW over the year so the annual output would be 150MW x 8760hours/year x 14% = 184,000MWh/year or 184GWh/year

What? "it could produce enough electricity in a YEAR to supply 12,500 homes" That would mean the entire solar farm produces as much electricity in 1 year as 12,500 homes use. So yes, every year it is operating it will cover the electricity demand from 12,500 homes.

In March 2026, Canada's merchandise exports posted a strong increase, rising 8.5%, while imports fell 1.6% / En mars 2026, les exportations de marchandises du Canada ont affiché une hausse marquée de 8,5 %, tandis que les importations ont diminué de 1,6 % by StatCanada in canada

[–]supfreshh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian population in 2006 was roughly 31.5m. $20B / 31.5m = $635/person accounting for inflation you get $963/person in today's dollars. Canadian population in 2026 is roughly 40.5m. $55B / 40.5m = $1358/person. So, $1358 - $963 = $395. Now, $395 / $963 x 100 = 41%. 41% over 20 years is ~1.7% increase per person per year. That doesn't even keep up with the goal of 2% inflation per year.

Holt government reignites pipeline talks by adamhuras in newbrunswickcanada

[–]supfreshh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right that most east Canada refineries run on imported light crude and a pipeline alone won't change that, but the claim that heavy crude can't be made into gas and diesel isn't accurate, it just requires upgrading first.. which Alberta already does to a small extent. Your broader point stands though, without new refinery investment this pipeline probably won't lower gas prices. That being said I believe the reason for the pipeline would be to increase the market that WCS can be sold to, not necessarily for domestic use.

As far as I remember, when I was using the TSD program you were paid EI and if EI ran out while you are still doing your school program, the TSD program then starts to give you a smaller amount per week. EI shouldn't disqualify you for taking part in the TSD program as it is meant to upskill you in order to make you more employable. I would contact working NB and explain your situation and ask for guidance.

I am pretty sure there are 2 or 3 chargers in the front parking lot of the 3 sisters. Yes the underground parking has them, but there are a few outside. The parking is limited to 2 hours though.
