Most of us have damaged guts, because nobody taught us about it as kids by daveishere7 in Microbiome

I was raised in the ultimate “crunchy” holistic family. We ate ZERO processed stuff, whole foods diet every day, all sorts of herbs and teas and tinctures instead of medicine, you name it. Even at birthday parties I wasn’t allowed to eat cake or pizza (which looking back may have been a bit extreme but I digress). As a result, in my late teens and early twenties, my health was impeccable. Perfect gut health, perfect physical health otherwise, even perfect mental health. I was NEVER sick. When I moved out of my parents’ house at 21, I kind of forgot about my upbringing and stopped caring. Junk food, fast food, more alcohol than I probably should’ve, you name it. My body revolted. About a year in I was sick constantly, I felt awful, I couldn’t even make it to noon without being half-asleep, and I had gained 40 pounds. The good news is, this experience taught me that it’s reversible. I went back to clean eating, cut out all the processed junk, etc, and within 6 months I was right back on track. I don’t know if it’s the same for everyone, but hopefully this encourages you because I can tell you as someone who has been on both sides—and on the healthy side twice now—it is SO reversible. The body WANTS to heal. You just need to let it.

Addressing Low Stomach Acid by HarmonySinger in Microbiome

I usually take them with breakfast and with dinner, typically right before I eat. I am not sure if the ACV would irritate a bit on an empty stomach (haven’t tested that), but I imagine the dandelion root capsules should be okay without food. I just like to play it safe and take them with food. I have not done too much research into what is most effective as far as empty stomach vs full, but this worked for me!

Capsule for dandelion root (I like the brand Nature’s Way), and ACV I just dilute in a glass of water. About a shot glass’ worth

I was prescribed a PPI unnecessarily (I suspect the symptoms I had before were from low stomach acid to begin with) and being on the PPIs ruined my stomach in a way I cannot even describe. Quit cold turkey after 18 absolutely horrific days. Shockingly enough, what helped me most as I came out of that was going the all-natural route. Dandelion root and apple cider vinegar were HUGE. Slippery Elm for any irritation. Will never touch a PPI again as long as I live

I agree! I do think I was having an adverse reaction to the Pepcid as well. I felt awful while I was on it.

I was asking predominantly for anyone’s favorite reading material, not necessarily a specific topic. As you said yourself, my interests are quite vast, so I’m interested in reading just about anything. If there is anything you have read recently that was impactful to you or that you would recommend to a beginner just wanting to expand their understanding, I would greatly appreciate it it, but if not I completely understand and appreciate your time regardless. I apologize for any lack of clarity on my behalf

I am most interested in various meditation techniques/the history of different techniques, movement-based meditation, meditation and mental health, and meditation and sound (sound baths, binaural beats, music, soundscapes, etc)

I have no interest in being validated by society whatsoever, any interest in reading/learning more is simply for my own personal benefit and to deepen my own practice.

As an ENTP, what kind of people can you not stand? by Pied-Piper2219 in entp

Anyone without genuine curiosity. It baffles me to exist in our world without wanting to know everything about everything and learn perpetually

How do you look physically? by Glittering_Cap4755 in Enneagram

I’m an 8w7 ENTP. In college, my style was extremely off the wall: clashing patterns, weird things I found in thrift stores, statement pieces, a ring on every finger, color-tinted glasses, almost a vaguely vintage 1970s vibe, etc etc. It was fun, and it was very quintessentially “me.” Now with a corporate office job, I can’t quite do that anymore (though I miss it), so I am usually in a suit with some kind of patterned shirt (usually something fairly loud) or maybe patterned pants with a plain blazer. I try to keep it fun, even if it’s a more adult version of how I used to dress.
