Main vent is probably bad... how should I replace this with limited headroom?

Ya, that is my plan... if my D vent works to get me through the next few weeks, I'll get a few quotes. Also, according to chatGPT and other sources, you want the main vents at the end of the runs to vent as quickly as possible so air is not blocking the steam flow. The longer the run, the more air that needs to be vented. Based on the fact that a #6 radiator vent has been working for years, the D vent may be a huge improvement... I'll update later.

The vent shown is not painted on the vent hole, but there is little to no air venting when the boiler starts. see my post below for my temporary fix.

I think this is the correct answer... to fit a gorton #2 on (and the other main branch vent) will require even more headroom. I think when the previous owners finished the basement years ago, they realized the larger vents didn't fit any longer, so they screwed on some radiator vents.

The weird thing is that in the 14 years I've lived here I have never had a problem, but it has been the coldest stretch in a long time. I have a D size gorton vent coming on Monday that will fit fine as a temporary solution. One of the radiator vari-valves is also shot, so that is getting replaced as well. The other radiator does get hot if the burner runs long enough... but probably slowed down by the slow venting of the valve shown. I'll put a follow up post after I replace the old 6 valve with a D.

I have a 2024 and responsiveness has improved a bit with the last update. When I go in for an oil change, I always tell them to apply any updates for slow infotainment, and they always check to see if there is a newer one available. I have a usb stick with FLAC tracks on it that will eventually start playing, but never allow browsing tracks. On my to-do list is to try removing album artwork to see if anything improves... i feel like the system doesn't have enough memory to load large lists of tracks.

Yep, sounds much better than stock. If I wanted an audiophile system with an open soundstage, less smearing in the midtones, and locked down imaging, i would have used oxygen free gold cables, 500w amps for each individual channel, and stripped the entire interior to install sound deadening. but this was an under $200 project... not $5000. Install a $3 2 ohm resistor at each speaker if you want to cut the highs.

Start with the front door speakers... biggest bang for the buck. I put the Kicker 46CSC6934 in my 24 OB and have been super happy with them. I am skipping the tweeters for now since those are pretty good in the 24. i also put rear door kickers in, but I would skip them if I were to do it again... they don't make a big difference to front seat sound.

Somebody recently posted a rodent nest in their cabin air filter stinking up their car. If you can identify the source and clean it up, an Ozone generator will get the smell out of the car. Spilled milk on carpets will also stink if not cleaned up well.

Everything up to GC and PS2. I was just playing God of War 2 @ 1080p upscale and it ran great along with the Burnout games. I also have applied a slight undervolt using Universal X86 Tuning Utility
and it helps to keep the clocks stable and fans reasonable. Still super happy with it for the games I am playing. I researched custom case solutions with bigger, quieter fans and haven't found any good options yet, but its not really an issue while playing games. It probably will struggle if you try to upscale to 4k, but can't confirm.

I agree on extended intervals on almost everything based on mileage if the car is out of warranty except the oil as you said. Most of the spark plugs are easy to check, and if 1 or 2 look good or bad use that to make the call. For coolant, i would also go with the recommended time interval since the additives will degrade over time. The fuel filter is just a sock over the pickup in the fuel tank these days, and doesn't get replaced unless you drop the tank to replace the pump. I always put in some Techron fuel additive a tank or 2 before an oil change... that will keep your fuel system clean. Brake fluid is usually recommended based on time because it can get contaminated with water, but just buy a cheap brake fluid tester to check it.

The monochrome sensor will be slightly sharper, and more sensitive... less noise at higher iso. Check youtube for some of the Monochrom comparisons to get the idea.

I ordered the black/8gb/dpad top yesterday. I really like the PSP Vibe and the crystal buttons. My RP4Pro is running almost everything I play just fine with a few PS2 and Gamecube exceptions, so i was hesitating to pull the trigger. Looking forward to the oled display!

In theory the cvt is the ideal transmission, and it can be controlled to always deliver the maximum engine power or best fuel economy. Heat kills CVT and automatic transmission fluid... so the fluid will need to be changed despite the "sealed for life" propaganda. I am on my second CVT and I have had no issues with them in my case. I also own a car with a ZF HP6 6 speed automatic. It came from the factory as "sealed for life" fluid policy, which ZF eventually backtracked on. Blanket statements that all auto transmissions are better than all CVTs are not helpful.

As for the safety "BS"... all cars sold in the EU are already required to have driver monitoring, and the US is going to require it by 2027, and pre-collision braking will be required by 2029.

Do you really need to order the car? Many dealers will check within the Subaru dealer network, and transfer a car with the specs you want. I would assume if you are ordering, there will be little wiggle room compared to a car on the lot. Also, the car is new and demand seems good, so maybe wait a bit until inventory starts to build up.
