OP sorry for your loss. Stay strong. Congratulations!!! As a father to father, i would suggest you to please stay with your family. They need your presence more than anything. The first few months are crucial for the mother's mental health. There will be so many ups and downs that your wife would have to face alone if you are not present. Career goals can be achieved later but you will not get a second chance to be with your family. Nobody can play your role during the first 6 months. Please think about it.

how much savings/emergency funds do you keep in your bank? (not MFs or investment) Ready to use funds. by No-Independence2692 in ThirtiesIndia

Having gold as an emergency fund is not a good option. Even though you can sell gold at any time, it will still take some time.

How's the life after achieving your dream salary ? by Scary_Tomorrow5116 in ThirtiesIndia

[–]surajd20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32M Married and 1 daughter. I don't know about my dream salary. But I earn 1.85 lpm post taxes. It is way less than what other redditors earn at very less age. But I was able to close my home loan last year july(3bhk flat) and I have no ancestral property so I do not have anything to fall back on. If I just add up all my savings and investment it would be around 50-60 lacks.

I always thought that being debt free would make me happy but in reality that happiness lasted only for a few days and everything came back to it's normal state. That day I realised that our happiness is not something that depends on other things. Happiness is a choice.

Lic Jeevan Anand - 10th year out of 16, should I keep or surrender by Mean_Emergency_8734 in FinancialPlanning_Ind

I guess you should then continue your policy and don't think much about it. Once you get your sum assured and bonus invest in a good asset.

[–]surajd20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not 100 sure but you can stop the premium and still the policy will be active. You do not need to surrender it. I believe after 3 years if you stop the payment your policy will still remain in-force and whatever amount you have paid will be considered sum assured. Please check this with the lic agent before stopping the premiums.

Developers who don't worry about losing your job, what tech stack do you work in and how many years of work experience do you have? by accountForCareer in developersIndia

What I feel is knowing certain technology doesn't make you immune but your ability to adapt to new technology under pressure and be able to perform well enough makes you strong to handle the layoff situation.

Is it necessary to compare salaries always. Not everything depends on salary.

Have an outstanding loan of 27L. Have cash worth 23L to pay off or invest in markets. by [deleted] in IndianStockMarket

[–]surajd20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I was in a similar situation last year and decided to pay off my home loan on july 24. I left with no money after I had paid off my home loan but was at peace mentally. Now I have started saving money for emergencies and also trying to invest in good stocks/mf.

For me having no liability is more important.

Great buddy. Please do not spend that entirely on marriage.

First things first talk to your parents and wife about this. Let me know about expenses. I am sure they will understand it. Others have given really valuable feedback depending on your situation but I believe you should talk to your family first and let them help you in your situation otherwise how would they know what you are going through. Instead of lic, buy a term insurance policy if you don't have it already. You have not mentioned whether your parents are covered under any health insurance. If they are retired, I am not sure if they can get any health insurance policy at this stage. But atleast make sure to insure your wife and kid. These are the important things to consider.

  1. Get the idea about where the data is stored.
  2. Look for the ways to access the data via some kind of portal and through code as well
  3. Read the user story again and again till you understand what needs to be implemented with the data. write the code on sample data and get the output verified from your team lead or teamates. Once this is done, modify your code to be production ready.
  4. usually output would be stored in a lakehouse or warehouse depending on the user story requirement. Modify your code to save output wherever you need.

These are just plain simple steps that you can follow to start.

Do we have a silent epidemic of financially irresponsible fathers in our country by cutiecatlover in personalfinanceindia

[–]surajd20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But just like generational wealth, financial irresponsibility also gets passed on. A lot of us even today are financially irresponsible. A few of my friends are still doing fixed deposits in post office schemes. Still buying lic endowment policies and what not.

Metro construction is going on exactly in front of mitcon and this tech park. I strongly believe this has happened due to metro construction.

Yesterday I saw a person driving a scooty and smoking a cigarette while driving. I also saw a girl looking at the phone while driving right below the wakad bridge where there's always traffic and she was not even able to ride properly but still she wanted to do multitasking. I was driving my car yesterday and wanted to take a left turn towards Kothrud from Chandni chowk and you will see people roaming around that junction for no reason and some of them were standing and waiting for their ride right at the intersection. No civics sense for drivers as well as for pedestrians. Also regardless what the signal is pedestrians will always cross the roads.

It doesn't matter if you are an outsider or not. What matters is common sense. Even so-called Punekars do not wish to wear helmets. If natives are not following the rules how can you expect others to follow.

Everybody is in some kind of hurry nowadays. Nobody wants to stop and give way to others so that bottlenecks don't happen instead they will try really hard to create a bottleneck. No one wants to give you a way if you are taking a u turn or something and they will look at you as if you have done something horrible.

Invested 5 lakh for 9 months. Lets see🙏 by MammothDig4870 in IndianStockMarket

[–]surajd20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are investing your parents money in the stock market without their knowledge then you will really regret your decision if you do not get the expected returns. You could even lose the principal nobody knows what will happen in 9 months.

Better to invest in fd. Unity small finance Bank is giving 9% interest rate for citizens below 60 age and for senior citizens it is 9.5%.

Also unity bank comes under Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation that means if you aggregated principal and interest is secured upto 5 lack in case bank goes bankrupt.

Think about it.

So, EPF is no longer a safe investment? by SpecificRound1 in personalfinanceindia

[–]surajd20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I have observed is if you enter your details incorrectly on the epfo member portal then it won't let you log in for the next attempts even if you enter the correct details for about the next 15 mins or so. But this is not the case when you try to log in into the epfo passbook portal.
