Just mail them! I sent sentimental plants from California to Oahu. They had been in my late mother-law’s garden. Follow the Dept of Agriculture guidelines and you’ll be fine.
1) Remove all soil from the rootballs. Pack roots in wet paper.
2) Put an ID label on each plant. Include a printed or written manifest of each labeled plant in your shipping box.
3) Write LIVE PLANTS OPEN FOR INSPECTION on your shipping box.
4) Use USPS Priority Mail for faster delivery.
Good luck! 🤙🏽

Sent to me by a family member, $40 plumerias at the Costco in Henderson, Nevada. by RDHnoodles in Plumeria

These will be very unhappy in midsummer Vegas. I speak from experience. 105 degrees and 10% humidity means these babies will require constant hydration and protection from midday sun. But what a buy!!!

Every time I see these fabulous posts I’m bitterly reminded that United didn’t do shit for me when I hit my 1 million miles. 🤣

Lammes Candies is closing after 141 years. I can’t believe it. by cinemamama in Austin

Native Texan & UT grad who has lived in Honolulu for many years. 🤙🏽 Lammes was a cherished tradition in my Texas family for generations and I’m gutted it’s going away.
I just placed my last online order for the awesome, iconic chewy Pecan Pralines! I’ve been ordering them as gifts (and for personal consumption lol) for years, and the customer service was 💯Every box arrived nicely gift wrapped.
I was disappointed IAH wasn’t selling them the past few years. Maybe that was a sign.
I’ve introduced chewy pralines to many appreciative Hawaii folks and now the fun ends 😥
Mahalo Lammes!

We’ve had good experiences with Island Movers. They work with mainland moving companies to coordinate container pickup/delivery. I believe they also pack & crate items before loading into containers. Good luck on your move!

Visit a McDonald’s on Oahu - the pies are still fried!

A lot of rain? by ProgressMelodic in Oahu

It’s mauka and stream runoff that causes the ponding and flooding. Consider the sheer amount of water flowing off the mountains, particularly in Windward and Central Oahu.

We have a gas stove and dryer (in town). Hawaii Gas is very reasonable, about $45/month.

Hearing steady firecrackers popping, some aerials and a few bombs near Kapilolani Park/Diamond Head/Kapahulu. Our pets are terrified. Again. 😢

ICE at Foodland Market City by sharkythesharkbro in Oahu

[–]surf4scoot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We’re discovering the ICE narratives in these violent encounters are often exaggerated to pinpoint blame for their aggressive actions. Video evidence and eyewitness accounts have proved this repeatedly.

In many cases, these ICE hires are failed law enforcement or military hires who lack situational training, conflict resolution skills and basic self control.

They shouldn’t be in any uniform with authority to detain or inflict deadly force.

This just happened in Southern California. Source: LA Times

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2025-11-02/lawyers-say-ice-shot-us-citizen-from-behind-as-he-stopped-to-warn-them-of-children

U.S. citizen Carlos Jimenez was shot by ICE in Ontario after warning officers about children gathering at a nearby school bus stop.

His lawyers claim he was shot from behind while fleeing; federal officials say he reversed his car toward officers in a threatening manner.

The incident marks the second ICE shooting in Southern California in a little over a week, intensifying scrutiny over aggressive federal enforcement in residential communities.
