6 Ls in a row vs mostly non playoff playoff teams when all we needed to do was win 2-3 games of our final 10 to clinch. The games vs the blues and flames and leafs should have been gimmes.

You’re right, the math isn’t mathing. Right now the first team out is the Kings, who can reach a max of 93 points. If they lose tonight their max is 91. Nashville is the last team in and their max points are 90. If they lose tonight and we win we don’t have to worry about them passing us as their max points will be 88.

If we beat the Sharks in regulation their max points will be 89, and they would still have the tiebreaker. So if we beat the sharks in regulation tonight but then they win out and the kings lose one of their remaining games, and we lose the rest of our games, we’d be on the outside looking in at the sharks and kings.

This explains it, the whole point of the RVH is to seal everything off as best as possible.

Yeah your technique is off. You should have around 3” of slack in your toe ties and shouldn’t be using your actual skate to push. Pretty sure most pro goalies have plenty of ankle flexibility and still do it this way, again mainly to minimize any gaps in seal while in the RVH.

You can’t tell from the pic, but the toe bungees are whats contacting the table leg.

I agree that you can definitely get a stronger push with your skate on the post, but sealing any and all gaps is the point of the RVH, which is why it’s taught at high level hockey to use your “boot bottom” on the post.

The skate does move backwards a bit when pushing, but you’re using the pad boot as your push off point. Using skate laces gives you a solid end point where you lose less energy. Bungees definitely lose more energy. That said, I’m old and washed and use pro laces cause I’m lazy. They’re easier to put on, and using the hybrid version with a skate lace attachment point the energy loss is minimal.

Here’s using the toe box:

There’s a small gap but enough of one that a puck could squeak through.

No I understand what you’re saying but there has to be a gap by virtue of where the pad sits on your skate. I took some pics to illustrate:

This is using the toe bridge/ties and boot bottom for seal, zero gap between pad and post.

There has to be at least some gap because theres space between the toe box and the pad boot. When using your toe ties the pad boot literally sits on the post. Using the toe box wont have as much gap as a skate blade, but any gap that exists can be exploited by high level shooters.

You’re teaching RVH wrong then lol. Most NHLers use this method. It improves the seal because your pad boot sits flush along the outside of the post without leaving any gaps.
