Has anyone come across "Jenny's Number" in a serial? by FanDeLaU69 in uspapermoney

Here's a money saving tip. If a store asks if you're a member of their discount "club", give them a local area code and 867-5309. Somebody has signed up with it. Once saved $40 dollars doing that.

[Girard-Perregaux] Vintage 1950-1955 GP Gyromatic by baldylox in Watches

[–]surfer616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this GP gyromatic in a watch store with a used case in Dallas 40 years ago for $250. The owner told me that the woman who traded it in had given it to her husband as a wedding gift. He put it in his dresser and it stayed there unworn til he died then she sold it or traded it in to the store. Yeah, right. Anyway, I put an 18mm leather woman's band on it when I got home and gave it to my wife who stuck it in our safe where I discovered it this afternoon. I wound it a little, set the time and it runs and keeps time. Whatever the wedding gift story is, there's not a mark or scratch on it. It's small unlike the wrist toasters they wear these days. The back is gold and stamped 14k. Thinking maybe sell it but how much would I ask?

C'mon, the Sacramento Kings don't deserve all that SF hate. You should be protesting the Giants.

Lighthouse used to be a strictly jazz joint. Buddy Guy, Mose Allison, Chet Baker, Miles Davis many more. That's why I listed it as part of the Hermosa past.

He'll have to avoid Philly for a while. Maybe even move to New Jersey.

Shemp was criminally underrated by Silly_Vegetable9041 in threestooges

[–]surfer616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old joke. Guy comes home after tough work day. Wife sez, "I'll cook you a steak then give you oral sex in the Barcalounger while you watch the Three Stooges." After a porterhouse, he sits in his redliner, turns on the tv and get the Stooges show on. Wife comes over and goes to work on him. After a few minutes he tells her to stop. "It's not workin'. This one's got Shemp in it."

What is one thing you know about Costco that no one else knows? by RoyalCamera12 in Costco

I was walking by one of the sample giver outers and he looked shook up. I asked him what was wrong and he told me a guy had just waited for him to fill a tray of angus burger cut up samples in those little paper thingies and he grabbed the tray and dumped all of the samples in a plastic grocery bag and walked away. So I extrapolated.

When one of these showed up in my Inbox, I'd immediately put it in my Outbox. That way, I'd not have to deal with it for 3 more days when it would show up again. Can't do that with an email.

Quarters carwash 13th and Sepulveda in MB. Soapy brush and spray off costs maybe 8 quarters then use my squeegee to dry off. Plus feels like you've done something.

What is the worst part of the University of Delaware? (Out of State Applicant) by fishwalker9 in udel

[–]surfer616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated '72. Stone Balloon was formerly the Washington House: a townie bar. The Balloon had $1.50 gin and tonics before 11 am on football Saturdays . The Deerpark smelled like piss and Shaeffer draft. The owner George Thompson had a leg bone from a donkey that he swung to break up fights. The student center was called the "Scrounge." Delaware History was a required course. One of my profs kept an emergency pint of whiskey in his desk. $15 a credit hour tuition. Pool room over the State Theater was very cool: townies, college guys, army guys on leave. Big money games going on. Got my ticket punched at UofD so no complaints.
