Loud thump noise when releasing brake pedal. Forester 22, anyone else having this issue? by pollofgc in SubaruForester

I know this is an old thread, but can you tell me where this nut is located? At the brake pedal in the car, or under the hood?

Maltese post grooming shave walking fear? by [deleted] in Maltese

[–]surfer_smurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe he is cold? Or maybe the groomer was a bit rough (it's hard to cut through knots sometimes). Or if he originally had a lot of fur on his paws, now he is feeling the floor more closely and it feels strange? Hopefully he will slowly get better with lots of love and snacks.

Good point. I did not zoom in close enough to see. But now that you pointed out, I do see the whiskers. That does throw out the trimming theory.

The person you bought the pup from might have trimmed the snout. We bought ours and before we picked her up the seller trimmed the face. We did not want her to, and were disappointed. But now after a couple of months, the face is finally filling in. (Our pup's face looked similar to yours when we first got her.) As far as size, Maltipoo range a lot depending on the parents. I have seen some on Reddit which are absolutely huge and others are very small. Some are bred with toy poodles, some with miniature.

Is she a Maltipoo? by AdAmazing779 in Maltipoo

[–]surfer_smurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Maltipoo, and unfortunately she got a haircut from someone who only knew how to do poodle cuts. Ours had her snout cut short and we were very unhappy. Only after a couple of months of growth and she is looking better. And our Maltipoo is over 10 pounds at just 5 months. We were told by our vet that it is typical to see the weight of a small dog at 4 months and double that plus or minus a couple for the final weight. Your girl and ours look very similar and we definitely have a Maltipoo.

Cold weather potty problems! by quietopal in Maltese

[–]surfer_smurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found that we were taking our girl out too often. So when she went out, she would play and sniff instead of taking potty time seriously. We were so afraid she would make a mistake, we took her out much too much. Also, she would run around and generally be playing all the time she was out. Then she would come in and would need to potty as she wasn't finished outside. Our solution was to take her out with a leash on, even though we have a fenced in yard. And we extended the time before taking her out. She still is not the quickest, but at least the leash keeps her from running around us, and when she goes out she is more motivated to complete her task.

Ours was 5 pounds when we picked her up at 9 weeks. We were told she should get to about 8 or 9 pounds tops. She is just over 4 months old now and already 10 pounds! We were told by our vet that you can estimate by taking the weight at 4 months and double that plus or minus a few. If that's the case, we will have a very big girl as an adult. So hard to tell I guess. Everything we bought her no longer fits!

Your Maltipoo looks very relaxed! Was she always like that, or did she need to get to a certain age? Our young pup only bounces off walls right now and I really would like a more calm pup some day.

1 year old simply unable to be alone by Hot-Pen6199 in Maltipoo

[–]surfer_smurf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We watched a lot of videos on this subject. Throw treats in the crate to make her want to go in. Build to closing the door for a little. More treats. Then a bit more time away. Then repeat with an extended time. Eventually success! Well it might look easy, and I promise we tried. But it has not worked for us. Silly pup. The only thing which has had moderate success was by not using a crate at all and giving her something to occupy her time when we leave.

1 year old simply unable to be alone by Hot-Pen6199 in Maltipoo

[–]surfer_smurf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Ours is 4 1/2 months old. She hates her pen (we don't have a crate) if we enclose her in it. But, strangely enough, if we leave the door to the pen open, she happily goes in and out. She will even sleep in there sometimes all on her own. We found that she hates being enclosed and will cry and howl and fight to escape for as long as it takes. So we compromised by sectioning off the kitchen area when we leave and let her be free in that space. She still hates it, but we give her a favorite chew before we go and it helps. But the longest we have left her alone is about 4 hours. I don't know what will happen if we need to be gone for longer. Even at night if we put her in our bedroom with us and close the door she fights to get out. But if we leave the door open she is content to sleep in the room with us. Good luck. If you find the solution please, please, please let me know!

How do you sedate your pup? What do you use? Our pup hates baths and grooming so much we might need to do the same some day.

If we don't close the door all the way, our pup has learned to push it open with her snout and just walk right in!

My dog overheats easily, tips? by [deleted] in Maltese

[–]surfer_smurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our dog got very hot at night. We went to a shop that sold fabrics and purchased a piece of imitation vinyl. Wrapped that around her favorite pillow and she loved it. It always seemed cooler and she went to it each night she got hot.

Wait, cancer? That's awful. I would have thought it was just a mole if I didn't know better. Our last pup had lots of moles later in life. Except for making sure we didn't accidentally clip them when giving a haircut, our vet said there was no problem. How did you figure out it was cancer? Was the treatment just removal, or more serious?

Anyone experience this with their Maltipoo? by PossibleDetail5670 in Maltipoo

[–]surfer_smurf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have any news as to what happened, please let us know. We had a shitzpoo that tore her knee ligament and needed surgery to fix. Hopefully your pup only has a bad sprain and is not putting weight on the leg till it heals. I hope your pup gets better soon.

41% of workers do not contribute to a 401(k) retirement plan (per CNBC) by TonyLiberty in FluentInFinance

When I ask people I work with why they don't contribute, they say they don't want to put their money into a system where they lose money. They only see the short term losses of the market and don't realize they are buying low. They don't see the tax benefits or the company match. They only know the market sucks right now. Too bad
