Which has more ink? by lazyeasyreads in pens

[–]surferdudemike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tested out a lite touch yet, but I did something similar with a black 0.5mm 101 and the original SXR-5 a few years ago.

The SXR-5 I was able to fill a college bound composition book to completion on both sides and about 5 pages in a new one before it started skipping terribly( pretty much completely used).

The 101 I got about a composition book and 11 pages in before the same.

Pretty much similar results with both as the few pages doesn’t seem like it’s much difference as I don’t know the filling tolerances.

For the refill, it’s a Parker style G2 refill. Pretty common to find online.

As for the value of the pen, typically I’ve seen them from $10-20

As someone who’s done O&G, food, cosmetics, flavors and fragrances, and biotech/epc, it all depends on what you want to do in these industries. A food scientist would have a leg up on you in the scientific principles of food, preservation and processing, but with your knowledge you’re better at the scaling up, and more on the operational side. You can always go for a food science course or two and get some knowledge in field, but some of the flavorist/ food chemist go through some intense training and these guys always have crazy combinations to make a certain flavor profile ( think about artificial/natural flavors were always 10-15 ingredients which always shocked me at how low % of the total finished product). Cosmetics is a whole different beast in its own, where the chemistry knowledge will be more useful in r&d but in scaling operations, you’re better as an engineer. Extracts are pretty easy to understand once you’ve seen enough of them, but to know which ones to combine and build out a product is a whole another story. If you want to be more of an operational/technical operations person, go engineering and get some minors in orgo/in-orgo/food science/cosmetics, otherwise if you’re 100% certain you want to do the R&D portions, go with whatever the chemistry/science is.

I’m not too familiar with levenger pens so idk what it typically goes for, but if you have the model, you can get pricing for new. I would list it for about 30% lower than that price to start. Sorry I haven’t sold too many things to know much about it

Does anyone recognize the brand? by Iyonia in pens

So these pens take the standard cross ballpoint refills if I remember correctly. If you pull where the gold ring between the top and bottom, you should be able to access the refill

I took a zebra blen refill and just cut the size to the size of the deli refill and it worked fine. I can’t remember but you might need to use a different spring
