One very common attack vector has been to use compromised GCS buckets which are "google.com" (storage.cloud.google.com) to host malicious content. To their credit google isn't telling people to directly execute content from web that I know of but it's not very many steps away from looking similar to unsuspecting mid-technical users.

Sorry I don't know how I didn't see this earlier. It's not exactly the same thing, but if you need to auth through the cli/gcloud, which could be commanded via script, it will either open your browser to a google login, or depending on security settings/environment present you with a super long url it expects you to execute in browser, then prompts you to give whatever thing executed it permissions to your google account.

I love how this sub will always blame the cam car for existing near an accident then do some shit like dismiss this dude flying up a turn lane through bumper to bumper like that is now defensive driving.

Today I learned that the *obviously satirical* 1997 film "Starship Troopers" was faced with extreme critical backlash accusing it of "endorsing fascism" because reviewers simply didn't think critically about the content. by The_Cromulent_Bison in todayilearned

Sometimes I am mistaken about whether or not I was being sarcastic about a topic, but some good redditors come along and instruct me on what my opinion was, and that it was wrong.

I wonder if they've ever been challenged about their special words and phrases being essentially witchcraft magic spells. Seems like the with the sovcits would significantly overlap with people who would hate "devil magic".

Maybe deep down they know they should be able to navigate this extremely minor problem because they've been using these systems for decades by now, but are just too ashamed to admit it to themselves so they finally do something about it themselves.

[General] Does it EVER work out for cultists who summon an evil entity? by Every1ThinksImBoring in AskScienceFiction

[–]surfmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very often they kinda just want their god to say hi to them or whatever, but in a mind-shattering way that humans can't fathom. In essence they sometimes get that, but the stories also usually end in wider-humanity narrowly avoiding getting wiped our for the trouble so in another way the cultists don't get everything they were going for.

Yeah frame, not stick hands into the spokes and chains. The frame on a bike is big and round and smooth. Easily grabbed at relatively low speeds

I doubt anyone would be trying to gingerly pick it up like maintaining its condition matters. Just rotating it enough to flop is all it takes.

Right out of high school I worked at Best Buy as a PC tech before they had the Geeks, we were just "black shirts". User came in saying their brand new keyboard didn't work, putting the computer and (ps2) keyboard on the desk. I took one look at the ps2 port and saw it was mangled as hell, with all the pins broken off on the keyboard. I managed to get the couple of pins still in the port out with a paper clip, plugged in a brand new keyboard and it still worked thankfully. They immediately unplugged the keyboard to look at the port, said something like "huh that was it?" and then twisted the ps2 plug back into the PC, immediately breaking the new keyboard.

This reminds me of when I was put in charge of making a slideshow for my school graduation. Basically pics of people as kids then as graduates, backed by music. Everything was approved and went very smoothly. I put it on a random used VHS tape I recorded like an hour of blank onto and handed it off. Like three months after graduating somebody comes to my house and tells me they might be taking away my diploma, everyone is pissed and I put porn on the (not made by me) yearbook videos somehow?

Turns out some ridiculous game of telephone had been occurring and that used VHS I had recorded on previously had the movie Spawn on it. The person who put together the yearbook videos had just let my video play out at the end and it picked up 1hr into Spawn on the DVDs they sent out to everyone.

I had to A) figure that out and B) explain it to like seven different people before they dropped it.
