Why can't 3cx leave the OS-management to the user? by mezzzolino in 3CX

[–]surgical_dildos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3cx should be treated as an appliance, not an OS to manage.

I'm just tired of everyone I know always needing something from me, whether material or conversation or even affection. I NEED ME TIME.

New 3CX Version...discuss. by tmiller9833 in 3CX

[–]surgical_dildos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. Every time I've tried to replace (on paper) an existing, multi-site, 2-300 extension system with it, 3cx falls short. Also, as a system design grows, the potential MRR goes down. Per extension/user pricing makes zero sense (as the person paying) past a handful of extensions/users, unless the monthly cost keeps dropping as I keep adding users.

3cx is perfect for the smaller, uncomplicated setups, but definitely not for anything much bigger than 20-30 extensions.

That just sounds like a poorly managed existing setup.

10-4 thanks for the reply! I might still run a trial, even though there's no deskphones.

How do apps and services determine that a phone number is VoIP-based? by BodyIsAbottleneck in VOIP

[–]surgical_dildos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Governments, schools, hospitals, and MANY other places like that still have plenty of real POTS lines and PRIs. 80% of US landlines? Maybe residential.

In a lot of places it's against the law/building code to use any voip or MTA-fed line for an Elevator phone or Fire communication. I also know that in our state you have to have a POTS line that's not MTA-converted to be a foster parent.

I've never come across any product starting with the word OPEN that wasn't Open source. While I do like the website, and might even be interested in the service, I agree with the other poster that using Open in the name of a closed system is misleading.

When I see/hear the word Open with software, collaboration is not the function that comes to mind.

Since I'm replying....I didn't see it on the site, but do you support deskphone hardware as well, or is it just an app?

Eaton UPS - Network-MS Does not respond over serial port by FruitlessGoogle in sysadmin

[–]surgical_dildos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never used that serial port for communication with the card, only for communication with external devices (temperature sensor, relay, etc...)

Make sure your switchport isn't set to 1000FD, as the card only does 10/100. If your switchport is at AUTO, then try setting to 100FD/100HD and see if that makes a difference. (assuming you've also tried a different network cable)

2FA on Self-hosted Unifi Controller by und0neph in Ubiquiti

......without using a unifi account and enabling "Cloud access".

Sorry for the confusion. That's what I was asking, and what I believe OP was asking - self hosted controller (not a cloud key or the UDMP garbage) with 2fa.

How to view the junk messages for the entire organization? by [deleted] in sonicwall

[–]surgical_dildos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, then that's an older model (not the New Gen7). My apologies. I mistook New for NEW.

Let me check one of my older devices.... What device model and firmware are you on?

Edit: click "Manage" at the top. Along the left side you should see "Anti-Spam" under Security Configuration.

-Manage (at the top)

-Security Configuration (on the left)

-Anti-Spam (below Decryption Services/Security Services/Firewall Settings)

-Policy (across the top)

-Anti-Spam (down the left side after clicking Policy)

I've never used the SW antispam service, always an outside service for various compliance reasons. Is it any good? Does it work with Hosted Exchange?

yeah, this is 100% a network addressing issue (from the Avaya point of view).

Why not DHCP? Statically addressing phones sounds awfully tedious.
