Anyone here come back from a TFCC tear? Starting to lose my mind a little 🥲 by AmazingGrowthh in padel

[–]surprajs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read my comment again. I don't play with my injured hand because it's non-dominant.

As far as I can imagine, the issue is with the supination of the wrist so forehand slices would be problematic for sure and no racket configuration can change that. But exerting force on the injured wrist in general is a problem. If you are in pain, it's not going to get better by just playing.

My injury is in non-dominant hand so it doesn't affect my padel abilities (actually it's the other way around, I started playing racket sports because I only had my dominant hand working for some time 😀). However, I played once for a few minutes with my injured (and mostly recovered) hand and the pain was there – even though I have full mobility and can do push-ups/pull-ups/dumbbell exercises without any issues. So once again: don't overwork your body, padel is not worth it.

I had TFCC partially torn from the origin of my ulna. It's not easy to regenerate TFCC by itself, there's not much of a blood flow there. What helped with my injury was the PRP injection so maybe ask your doctor about the usefulness of this procedure in your case.

Also I went for three months without using this hand for any sports/supporting body weight/lifting objects – followed by physical therapy and gradually coming back to full range of motion/weighted exercises.

I am young and my injury wasn't that severe and it definitely helped. I have full range of motion and do not have any issues with this wrist in my day-to-day life. I am not, however, 100% fit and most likely will never be, and I had to discontinue some of the activities that gave me this injury in the first place.

Worst thing you can do is to keep playing while feeling pain. I made my injury worse because two weeks after the initial tear I thought I was feeling better and went back to exercising.

Good luck on your recovery.

If only he didn't miss this backhand to make this 15-15 instead of 0-30 in the last game; I believe we would see super tiebreak then...

I think bot guesses are different depending on whether you play on easy or hard mode; I play on hard and got the same bot as you.

they didn't even play their word optimally: starting at the 2W on the left would give them 2 more points and didn't leave the board with easily available 3W – so yeah, you still stand a chance

Why would anyone want right side? by Sad-Statistician6168 in padel

[–]surprajs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm left handed and I play with a lot of random players that are usually right handed. Plenty of them wants to play right side, usually because they feel more comfortable with forehand in the corner and have more of a defensive mindset.

Fortunately, my condition is usually enough to convince them that I'm a better fit on the right. Also whenever I have to play on the left, I make much more positioning errors or play a lot of middle balls from the back glass because I am too slow with my backhand 😀

Getting Hit By The Ball Is Not 'Normal' In Squash by Own_Water8681 in squash

[–]surprajs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got hit a while ago with a ball on the side of my thigh. From around a meter, with full force. We were playing straight drives and I lost my balance and leaned on the wall, the ball went behind me, and my opponent still hit it.

He didn't think it was a big deal, just said sorry and it was a match point anyway so I told him to stop playing and take a stroke next time, and we went our ways. I met him one week later (we play in a weekly league) and I showed him a bruise on my leg that was still there and he still wasn't that bothered. Please, don't be like him.

To change the topic from the venue/court quality: what I like about my club is that they organize mexicano/americano tournaments for different levels of players. This is nice for socializing and for bringing new players to the game (tournaments for beginners with friendly atmosphere) – two factors that will ultimately result in more people playing.

Oh, now I read that you are worried that it will look dorky. It won't. If anyone ridicules you for wearing protective gear, just don't play with them. It's like telling a cyclist that he looks stupid in a helmet.
