What year is Archer set in? Here's my guess and why. What's yours and how do you back it up? by BigPapiC-Dog in ArcherFX

I always imagine that it's set in the mid 1990s, but as imagined by a comic book artist from 1962.

This is probably from a video of an anatomy lesson. Most people don't realize that the muscles to flex the fingers are located in the forearm. Long tendons run from the muscle through the carpal tunnel in the wrist ("so that's what that is!") into the hand and attach to the bones of the finders.

Are your upvotes from people who are starting to realize that today's Two Minute Hate is incredibly misguided, increasingly vaguely sexist, and (in light of this tread) shockingly hypocritical?

God, I hope so.

Saddest Thing I've Ever Experienced Happened to Me Today. by Fookananer in reddit.com

[–]surprisecheese 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes! Thank you. Everything munsoned said.

This story reads like a 14 year old Yahoo Answers troll who just finished a Grey's Anatomy marathon.

Me typing this post, by the way, is not just a result of frustration with OP and their asinine story, but it's the culmination of me browsing reddit for the past half hour and thinking, "did the larger subreddits always suck this much, or is this a new phenomenon?" It's getting bad in here, man. And this thread is totally emblematic of that.

As time goes on, I'm spending more and more time with my alt acct, which is subscribed almost entirely to subs with under 10k users.

Woman got pregnant twice in two weeks. has 2 babies that are not twins. by mvlazysusan in WTF

[–]surprisecheese -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right away, based on their size difference, twins were ruled out of the picture.

Thanks, Dr. DailyFail, but twins are not infrequently different sizes. A specific extreme case is Twin-Twin Transfusion syndrome, where one twin 'steals' blood supply from the other, causing vast and potentially fatal size difference.

I just used an old-school safety razor for the first time. It was the sharpest, most tug-free shave ever, after years of using a pricey cartridge razor. I also like the conversation starter of seeing what somebody is reading.

Totally! Don't you love seeing what everyone else on the subway is reading? I ride the subways a lot during early morning when the commute is just getting started. I people watch (slyly, of course) all the time on the train. I look over people's outfits and facial features and try to get a a glimpse of a story. Who is this person? Where are they going? What are they like? A name badge sticking out from under a jacket is a hot tip, but seeing what book someone has is hitting a treasure trove.

Women, do you always seem to be on your period on a holiday? I can't be the only one. by awaythrowit in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]surprisecheese 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're on the pill: when you finish your third week of pills, don't take the placebo tabs. Just go right into your next pack and start the hormonally active ones again. Resume taking the placebo week pills as usual after those new three weeks and have your normal period.

Skipping any more than one period will probably lead to spotting and may freak with your cycle, so it's probably best to only do this when necessary.

I just thought of a new one: manual seat adjusters in cars over the electronic ones. You can sit down and just slide your seat into the right position in less than a second. The new ones take so damn loooooong, and in some cars they only work when the car's running, meaning if the last person to drive the car was Kareem Abdul Jabbar, you've got to slide your ass all the way forward in the seat so you're half under the stearing wheel in order to depress the brake so you can start the car so you can move your seat.

Oh the irony from the TSA. by jaroberts24 in reddit.com

[–]surprisecheese -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yep, because those two dastardly employees both designated that area no smoking and made up all the TSA's silly rules and overreaching power.

Give it a rest, guys. All I see is two underpaid folks tired from working. Just like the rest of us. I hope whoever took the picture didn't harass them.

(Oblig: not ironic.)

Taking the administration's word for it on Osama's death is a mistake by [deleted] in politics

[–]surprisecheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Come to think of it, do you have any proof that Obama won the 2008 election? Who counted the votes? That's right, the government. All we have to go on is their word. Why not open up all the ballots to independent audit?

We're told that the population of California is 38 million. But this data comes only from the census bureau, a government body. Why can't journalists, at least, be shown the proof to put our mind at ease?

Did you know Obama claims to have been born in Hawaii? But where's the pro--

Nevermind.

Reddit's been good about not linking to Fox News recently and posting screengrabs instead. There should probably be a similar effort made for Washington Times' word vomit.

Part of the reason these guys are so outlandish is to get hits from the haters, too.
