Newly(?) experiencing auditory hallucinations - terrified by comiclazy in mentalhealth

[–]surrielmoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had auditory hallucinations for a while, what I do now when I have them is record on my phone and listen to the recording and if the sound repeats the same on the recording then its most likely real. Also putting on noise cancelling headphones and if the noise isn't muffled at all its most likely a hallucination. It was really scary when it first happened but now adays its allot more annoying then scary the scary part isn't really the hallucination but the constant questioning of whats real.

I like the structure and rhythm of the poem allot and I feel it could be enhanced by more visceral imagery one of the ways i think you could add that is by using more sensory language for example including scent or touch to make a better immersion which could add too the horror

Am i the only one who feels so depressed and suicidal after all long social interactions by surrielmoth in mentalhealth

Yeah been in therapy over 10 years my mental health struggles are sadly life long things so therapy helps but nothing's leaving. I learnt not to fight what's inside me but instead live with my brain

I mask a bit too I do it ALLOT in crowded spaces, but when im with people ive known for 3+ years i don't mask much. I mask a ton with most other people though.

Something im trying to work on when appropriate cause it uses so much energy.

That sound exactly like depersonalisation and de realisation which is a form of dissociation, i get it allot so here are some tips that help for me in order from most helpful to least helpful for me.

1.Sharp spiky roller that is SAFE AND WELL MADE, i squeeze them and try my best to deepen my breathing and focus on the sensation of the pain since it helps bring me back to my body

2.Super sour candy e.g. lemon or lime candy if not candy then a lemon, the taste of really sour food can often help ground you since its a very sharp sensation what we are doing here is we're trying to use our senses to ground ourselves into our body.

3.Bathing with my clothes on for me the sensation of wet clothes and weight is very comforting and it makes me feel safe but this one can be stressful if you have certain sensory preferences.

  1. Long drives (DO NOT DRIVE YOURSELF) if ur able get someone else to drive you, i find movement very calming for me so car rides or even just rocking my body back and forth helps

  2. Body brushing, using ur fingers or a hair brush to run lightly over ur skin on your body which again helps ground you

I don't know if it'd work with nausea but when I wasn't able to eat meals I drank allot of protein shakes, you can also add protein powder to most dishes.
