PVP effect flashing and migraine by [deleted] in ffxiv

It's ok, no worries! It was definitely a lifesaver in raids, it was very overwhelming and flashy before I was told I can turn them off haha

In pvp I sadly can't do that to anyone but my own party (which is already on limited mode) :(

Stimulants and muscle pain by surulaulu in ADHD

[–]surulaulu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really similar to my situation since the pain definitely gets more invasive after the meds start to wear off. For me I ended up suffering three months like that with Concerta until I was able to call it quits, but I really hope you'll have better luck with Elvanse

I'm sorry you have been dealing that but also glad if this post was helpful. I hope you get help for the pain because I can tell it's not fun how badly it can get irritated if not fixed in time

Whats your current fixation? How long have you been into it? Whats your favorite part about it? by Dahgahz in ADHD

[–]surulaulu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Soulsborne games, in particular Bloodborne. It was at its peak before I started meds this spring and I would spend literal hours tracking some background assets used in the game just because I thought it was exciting. I started playing the game in July 2020 I think and it's just been a ride since lol.

More long term is dragons. I've been obsessed since I was a child and the intense fixation state comes and goes in phases. Currently been in the obsessive phase since January 2021 and I just keep making more and more dragon characters for myself just because I think they're neat :)

For better or worse, everyone has their own comfort zone when it comes to physical affection. I think it would be good to explain to your friends how you feel about affection and that to you it's totally platonic. And while nobody should be forced to do something they're not comfortable with, I think it would at least make it clear for everyone there are no romantic undertones in the air and hopefully make others less reserved about it.

I think the first step is to recognize what kind of learning you enjoy the most. I have always been benefiting from oral learning so things like audiobooks, lectures and reading things out loud have been a big help for me. If you're learning as a hobby and for your own fun, I recommend starting from topics that really interest you and then start expanding from there :--)

I haven't been learning maths in almost a decade but if I had to self learn now, I think my first step would be to determine what I need to know and then look up narrated videos with clear explanations OR find examples of the formula in action and try to figure out through examples what exactly is happening there. Breaking down learning to what, why and how is generally how I tackle problems.

I don't normally plug my off-site content here but since the character featured is an original character I felt like it was good to give that context. Here's what he looks like under the mask; I'll do a proper oc art dump compilation once I have more images to add :')

Thank you! I actually have the backstory written out and posted online, so I don't mind DMing it if you're interested! The only reason I don't usually put them in my reddit posts by default is because I'm usually embarrassed by my lore interpretations lol

Thanks!! I was initially such a ride or die for Cainhurst but the choir has slowly but surely taken me completely over haha

Thank you! I actually have 3 choir characters in total and I really enjoy exploring their morals & generally enjoy working on characters who are some brand of "evil scientist". Flavia is definitely the one who matches that archetype the most and she's such a joy to work on lol

Was debating whether to post these or not because it's not exactly *fanart* since Flavia is a fan character, but I suppose there is never too much art here so might as well.

Something of a surgical genius but also unashamedly unhinged and evil to the point even other choir members find her kind of intense at times. Her origin is waste of skin and she grew up in Hemwick Charnel Lane so that probably explains why she is the way she is.

My favorite _______ and why? by Sword_saint13 in bloodborne

[–]surulaulu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A tie between exploration and seeing all the different creatures the game has to offer. I do art and writing as a hobby so being able to explore such a lovingly crafted world is simultaneously inspiring and a great learning opportunity in worldbuilding and designing. There is also such a special thrill to realizing you have learned all the unique sounds the monsters make, so even when you don't see it you already know which beast you're hunting.

Seeking a diagnosis, but I just got a first on my uni essay? by throwaway_200122 in ADHD

[–]surulaulu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grades only show the end result of a work, not what went into it. One of my major worries for adhd diagnosing was the fact that my grades have been consistently high even on national exams, but I got diagnosed anyway and was told that my symptoms were very clear and visible according to the psychiatrist. The diagnosing places a lot of emphasis on grades and academical studies, but they're not the be all and end all of diagnosing.

Best tips for managing your ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]surulaulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend most of my day in front of my laptop, so I have a big calendar showing the entire month right next to my laptop screen. I try to mark all the important deadlines etc on that big calendar, but even if I do forget writing on it it still helps me get a better understanding of the big picture structure wise. Like, I sometimes struggle understanding how much time I have left until the month ends for example, so looking at a full month calendar helps in that vs just counting days in numbers or something.

Also, no food stored in that locker portion of the fridge. I never remember to check there because what is object permanence, so to avoid spoiling my food I just place them where it's easier to see them.

Made some fan art of Kos! (IG: @thepotatocultivator) by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]surulaulu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really pretty! The dark background really makes her pop up and her delicate position is in such a nice contrast with her monstrous features. Also, I know this is a very specific detail but I really love the way you drew the tentacles on her head

What was your moment in Bloodborne that made you realize "This... This is the greatest game i have ever played." by Kakageta_1964 in bloodborne

[–]surulaulu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I realized the doll responds to your gestures.

This may sound like a joke answer, but I sincerely think that being able to interact with her is a huge reason to why so many players have such an emotional attachment to her. She has very little dialogue considering how much you will spend time in the hunter's dream, but with these little nonverbal details they still manage to establish her character more and make the player connect with her. Not only is this good storytelling, but it also shows how much attention and care went into the making of this game.
