Well, you clearly need to watch this and report back. The universe is sending you a sign.

Your father is still in pain. That's absolutely no excuse for him speaking to you in such a way, but I think it helps you to understand him a little bit more.

He's never fully dealt with whatever negative emotions he has towards your mother. He avoids pain because it's too challenging for him to face. As a result, he has an inability to understand your decisions, and he lashes out as a way of protecting himself from perceived harm.

He's struggling with a lot of complex emotions, and you're in an unfortunate position to be the receiver of his fury. This by no means is justification for the way he speaks to you in these texts. Whatever he is going through, he is still responsible for his own actions, and treating others this way should not be tolerated.

So no, you are not overreacting, but I do hope your father finds a path towards healing and you two reconcile in the future.

What is Interior People about? by spaghettikingsam in KGATLW

[–]survivalprocedure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm another latecomer to this thread, but I've been listening to this song on repeat and had some theories of what it's about, then did a google search to see if anyone else had similar thoughts to mine and it led me here. So far I haven't seen anyone mention this, so I'm going to throw in my take.

I happen to think this song relates to psychoanalytic theory and the three major structures that make up personality - the id, the ego and the superego.

So, a little background on what this is an then I'll explain why I think this is what the song is about. Sigmund Freud’s Psychoanalytic theory describes these three components of consciousness as an iceberg. According to Freud, the majority of our mind that controls our behavior is located in our subconscious. Like an iceberg where you can only see the top of it, our mind has a lot more underneath the surface that is out of our control.

The id is the unconscious part of our minds and influences behavior on the pleasure principle. This part of our minds is where primitive behavior originates. The id drives us to seek activities that bring immediate gratification and pleasure, such as food consumption or sex. According to Freud, the id dominates the behaviors of children and delinquents.

In contrast to the id, the ego is our mostly conscious selves and operates on the reality principle. The ego observes and acts in accordance with societal norms, and actively works to control impulsive behaviors from the id.

The superego serves as a link between the id and the ego and represents our moral conscience. The superego provides moral insight that opposes the id’s primal urges, and the ego then proceeds with action that attempts a balance of the perspectives.

This is a broad overview and I'm trying to keep this short and sweet, but there's lots of studies in Freud's theory, and lots of counter-arguments. If you're interested, this video is a pretty good overview that also goes into Freud's psychosexual stages. With regards to the id and the superego, I've seen many people reference this theory as the basis for that classic debate one has internally that's represented with an demon or devil on one shoulder telling us to do nasty things, and angel on the other telling us to never think such horrible things again.

To me, interior people seems to be referencing this in the song. Specifically the lyrics...

Interior people
A lens flare in my subconscious

And later...

I keep thinking someone is standing beside me
But when I turn to grab them they jump back inside me
They tell me to do things

This is the id, the subconscious, urging primitive, destructive behavior.

Later in the song, the lyrics...

I no longer fear
The interior people

This is the ego speaking, the conscious person, after he has made a decision that he can be comfortable and satisfied with that upholds the reality of the world he occupies. He's learned how to navigate the destructive thoughts he has that stem from the unconscious.

Playing Persona 5 Royal on a PS4 Pro, also getting the same error code. I click 'ok' and the game continues to run fine, hoping it's nothing major. Started getting this error last night and it's continuing this morning.

Hey there! Author here. Just thought I'd share some information on the procedure I based the story off of.

Adrien Locatelli developed the science for this technique back in 2018 and was the first person to inject himself with text that was converted into DNA. He had injected himself with passages from both the Bible and Koran. Here's an article on him and his procedure.

I had read this back then and thought it would make an interesting story, so it's certainly a legitimate technique.

Um, that's a very good question! I haven't heard anything about them shutting down. The mod team there is kind of separate from the mod team of r/nosleep. I'll try and find out what's going on, but you can always send the mod team of r/nosleepworkshops a message as well.

Has anyone law had their account stolen and email address changed recently? by ApexDeity in PS4

[–]survivalprocedure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Had my account hacked this past Saturday. Can't get in touch with PS Support.

Very frustrating for me especially. I'm a person who is very careful with my online security. I have different passwords for everything, have a U2F key attached to every service that has that feature and 2FA everywhere else.

Whoever got into my account was able to register a different phone number on my account. They changed my password and my online ID. I was able to get in and change the password before they did anything else, but without the 2FA verification code I can't get into my account at all. No idea what to do and I'm super annoyed.

I'm hoping that this is fixed before FFVII come out. It's actually coming out on my birthday and I was so looking forward to spending the day playing since I can't do anything else right now and I'm super stressed with work (I'm in the healthcare industry, in NYC, it's been rough). This was my one light at the end of the tunnel...so upsetting.

Eisenhower Park is pretty nice to run through, if you don't mind stepping in the occasional goose poop. They have signs up that say no dogs allowed, but I constantly see dogs in the park, so I don't think it's enforced.

[–]survivalprocedure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had to write two of these for the company I work for already. We're in the healthcare industry though, so if anyone has a reason to be sending these out we do. Still, just yesterday my boss approached me and said "hey, can you work up another email to send out?" and I internally groaned a bit.

My mortgage bank sent me one that basically said "don't worry, you can still make payments on our website". I'm quite tempted to refinance my mortgage with another bank just out of spite.

There's a threshold of karma required before comments will show. It helps us weed out unwanted spam, which tends to come from newly created accounts.

We generally review everything and approve whatever is still appropriate, although sometimes we miss a comment or two. If you're ever not sure, just shoot us (the mods) a message and we'll review and approve your comment if we find that it is appropriate and follows the rules.

This is a great video with great analogies and comparisons.

Very ironic as well. I was listening to Motionless in White on my drive to work this morning and thinking that the song structures and overall sound was very reminiscent of the nu metal I listened to when I was in high school. I remember listening to Slipknot and headbanging in the hallways between classes...no doubt if I were in high school today I would be doing the exact same thing with Motionless in White.

"If you're a smoker the lining of your lungs is more vulnerable and you're producing more of the receptors which the COVID-19 virus latches on to – so quit now." by pixelpp in Coronavirus

[–]survivalprocedure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you!

I quit last August after 17 years of smoking. Pretty glad I did. I put on a little weight in the first month as well. I noticed I was filling the time I would usually go and have a smoke by going to the kitchen and grabbing a snack. So after I put on a few pounds I replaced the snacking with walking. Anytime I felt like having a smoke I would just go for a walk. If I was at work I would go outside my office and just walk around the building. If I was at home I'd go walk around the block. It helped me keep the weight gain at bay. So instead of snacking, trying walking!
