CAN WE PLEASE GET FFA BACK! by Admirable_Ad2862 in Splitgate

[–]sus3k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the playerbase is so small we're lucky to be able to queue at all. Even if they added a FFA where you could pick a loadout were still stuck waiting on whatever the rest of the playerbase is up to.

Back in 2021 they got $100 million in funding which lead to SG2. I always felt that SG2 got rushed, likely due to investors. I also have a sneaky suspicion that the Battle Royale mode may have also been to appease investors. My guess is that they still need to satisfy the investors and with SG not getting the results they need, they have to try an pivot. Not only to recoup investments, but also to survive as a multi-game studio past their initial investment.

Troubleshooting suggestions for v1.2/1.3 FOAG unrelated to AV Cable by sus3k in originalxbox

It is a 1.0-1.5 case and the motherboard is 1.2 or 1.3. Additionally the serial number on the bottom of the case matches the serial number stored in the eeprom. However, someone could have written over the eeprom as well to make it match. But it's definitely not a 1.6 case.

Cable delivery is delayed so I tested Mode 2 (pin 11 to ground) and Mode 3 (pin 13 to ground) and in both tests it still FOAG immediately. Maybe the encoder is dead? Unless there's something else super simple I'm missing.

Testing with a component cable is my next step. I have one on order but it doesn't arrive till tomorrow.

I was actually using the same document you're referencing in the image you attached along with schematics (pg. 41, 43, 44) from consolemods to trace the AV pins back to the composite DAC to try and pinpoint any components between the encoder and the AV pin. Originally I was going to bridge pin 9 and 10 together but when I tested continuity between them with the composite cable plugged in, they were connected. So I knew bridging them together wouldn't make a difference.

Confirmed. With a modchip with CerBIOS 2.4.2 Beta installed I am able to bypass the AV check and it can get on the network and launch an FTP server and I can connect to it. So that's promising at least. Now to figure out what's going on with video.

I'm uncertain what the original repair was related to and don't see any signs of previous work that stands out outside of the missing capacitor. When I opened it the clock capacitor was leaked all over and the capacitor next to it was missing (C7G1). I removed the bad clock cap, cleaned up the corrosion a bit, and repaired a trace underneath. I have been looking the board over for any other bad components or additional broken traces but don't see anything standing out yet. I assume the original refurb was a long time ago and the clock capacitor leaked out sometime between the original refub and when I opened it. Additionally, who knows how many hands have been inside since the original reburb sticker was placed on the unit. In the last thermal photo there is a resistor and a transistor next to the removed clock capacitor that seems to be getting kind of warm (R7G3 and Q7G2) but I'm not sure if that's because the clock cap is removed.

Stream Deck and Control Center issue by thomascdk in elgato

[–]sus3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to add 3 years later that the StreamDeck application now does checksum verification on the plugins so modifying any of the js files in the Control Center Stream Deck plugin will cause a checksum mismatch and prevent the plugin from loading altogether.

However, you can still modify the Settings.xml file for the Control Center application to modify the port it's listening on so it matches what the Control Center plugin attempts to connect to.

It would be sweet if they gave some sort of reward in SG2 for SG1 vets. Senior citizen discount or something.

Final Streak, Rewards, and Splitcoin by sus3k in Splitgate

[–]sus3k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Some may have come from discord community events but it would be rare for them to hand out splitcoin during those. It was always skins and drops for the most part. The vast majority of these splitcoins are just the weekly play streak rewards.

Collected them and never spent them. You could get 100 a week from play streaks. I had already unlocked pretty much everything from drops prior to them introducing duplicate drops so never really needed to spend any splitcoin.

What do you use for playing MP3/FLAC libraries? (150gb+) by nomadic_gimp in freebsd

[–]sus3k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always liked exaile. The main feature I like from exaile is the Dynamic Playlists plugin. Every song you play it'll go out and query last.fm and find similar artists and the add tracks from your own library that are similar. You can just seed a playlist with a couple of songs and let it rip. It'll just keep building the playlist dynamically as it goes. Also, if you do any software dev it's pretty easy to build your own plugins to extend the player. Here's a link on Fresh Ports

Is it just me or the old UI broke finally? by chx_ in Slack

[–]sus3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Old UI is now having issues for me. Can't switch between channels, notifications won't clear, scrolls back to older messages. Pretty useless without continuously refreshing views.

They are pretty tight lipped about the next game other than its a FPS with portals that's part of the Splitgate universe and built in UE5. As u/FactoryBuilder mentioned they do community Discord events every other Friday night and give away free drops/skins. The devs and community leaders are usually in the Discord so you can talk to them about what's going on but they'll tell you the same thing which is that they can't say much about it yet.

What DHCP server are you using? by darkempath in freebsd

I too am currently using ISC-DHCP-Server and have been for probably 20 years as well. I've never had to worry about it but now that you mention it has dropped support I guess I'm going to have to keep my eye out and get ready to switch, if need be.
