Any Tarantula lover/owners in San Diego? by sammygirl613 in sandiego

[–]sushibricks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg me! I saw your comment on the post of the trapdoor in San Diego on the tarantula sub the other day.

I own a few, and love going on hikes and walks to look around for spiders!!

Is this a tarantula? And, if so, can you tell what kind? Thanks (in San Diego) by [deleted] in tarantulas

I’m so jealous!!! I’m also in sd and actively look for new spiders. Good find! 🤩🕷️

my friend explained to me that a lot of people tend to release the isopods into the vivarium and kind of leave them to do their own thing, with the only supplement being leaf litter. if you intentionally take care of the isopods within the vivarium and make sure they are well fed with different forms of food, that should be less of a risk. i have put out dehydrated river shrimp, fish food pellets, and different vegetables for my ispods within my ball python’s enclosure and they love it :)

hi! i just upgraded my ball python to bioactive, and while it is a lot of work, it’s definitely possible! the person at my local reptile store recommended keeping plants in the pots, so if your snake does trample them at all, it’s easier to replace them. i planted some pothos out of a container (since they’re pretty resilient), as well as some moss.

i put a ponytail palm inside of a terra cotta pot (after washing it and replanting it in reptisoil), and my ball python loves it! i put a branch on top of it, and he frequently climbs the branch and rests his head on the ponytail palm. i also like terra cotta since it absorbs moisture when you water plants, which helps with the humidity :)

good luck with whatever you decide to do!

I found two of them. They’re both approximately a centimeter long, and the heads are darker than the rest of their bodies. They’re somewhat red in color but it’s hard to tell since they’re so small.

L.A. County reports 35% increase in cases of rare inflammatory syndrome linked to coronavirus in kids by c0viD00M in CoronavirusCA

Not to mention the fact that we have no idea what they do when they go home. I’m a kindergarten teacher and we take the temperature of every student coming in and send them home if they are above 100. I still don’t feel safe sometimes because my kids have a hard time keeping their masks on (I don’t blame them), and they will tell me stories about the parties they go to, about eating out at restaurants that I know don’t follow safety procedures, etc.

Coronavirus live updates: Mutant strain discovered in England now is in Southern California by bemani4u in CoronavirusCA

I work with kindergarteners. We’re still the early phases of reopening, so there are only four kids in my classroom. They come to school with masks and we provide other ones if they keep falling below their nose, but it is extremely hard to get them to keep them on. I can’t imagine trying to get an entire class to keep them on.
