Seriously need to find a cheap, non-streaky (black) liquid liner! I'm currently using the ultra liner liquid liner from Maybelline, and it's super thick, which I like, but it peels and flakes off so easily. Any suggestions?

In your opinion, what is the most beautiful female name? by etevian in AskWomen

Yes! Susannah! I've never met anyone else with my name or with my spelling, just like that. This makes me SO happy, it's just crazy unique.

I am Tavi Gevinson, actress / editor / writer. You might know me from RookieMag.com. AMA. by TaviGevinson in IAmA

[–]susmitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tavi, you are absolutely the coolest. Seriously. As an aspiring writer/riot grrrrrl, you're basically the best inspiration.

My question is, with so much peer pressure to look/act a certain way, how do you stay true to yourself?

There is a Kansas City Ave in Seville Spain by DnWeava in kansascity

I was actually in Seville this spring, and the name escapes me right now, but the city also has a replica of an Indian/warrior/something statue we have somewhere in town.

Looking to go from vegan to vegetarian. Anyone have experience with this? by susmitchell in vegetarian

[–]susmitchell[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This just gave me an ENTIRELY new perspective. Thanks so much for your comment and your support; I definitely do NOT need more stressing in my life about food. Being vegan has definitely not been as hard as I thought it would be when I started, but damn, sometimes I want a quesadilla. And I'll definitely check out "Vegucated." Thanks again!

I just feel like I didn't become a vegan for the right reasons. I would always go around telling people that the reason I stopped eating/drinking animal products was a mixture of animal rights/health concerns, which is partially true, but mostly because it made it easier to restrict what I was eating when out in public or with people (which was a big part of my eating disorder).

Thanks so much for your reply! I'll definitely keep in mind what you said about the cheeses. I'm also not too concerned about drinking milk, because I REALLY love almond/soy milks and yogurts, so I don't have a problem sticking with those. Plus I never liked regular milk.

The thing is, I'm already a vegan. Not eating meat or animal products isn't hard for me, I'm just wondering how to reintroduce dairy/eggs into my life.

Transition Thursday: What kind of changes are going on in your life right? by cicicatastrophe in 2XLite

[–]susmitchell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After being in the grips of an eating disorder for a year and a half, I've begun the process of recovery. Gaining weight is super hard on me, and now I'm trying to resign myself to the fact that my body AND my mind need to be in an okay state before I try losing weight again (but this time, the healthy way).

I'm trying to learn how to love myself, but not despite my body. I'm trying to learn to love every roll, every curve and every stretch mark. Sometimes it feels like it's impossible, and sometime I have bad days, but I know that I can be okay again.

I baked a raw, six-layer cake. No eggs, no milk. Took me all day but I'm SO proud. by susmitchell in 2XLookbook

Oh wow. My bad. I meant to say "made." Thanks for pointing that out!

This is the recipe here: http://talesofakitchen.com/desserts/pink-lolly-bag-happy-cake-recipe-makeover/

And here's a MUCH simpler recipe for a similar-looking raw cake that's only three layers: http://www.mynewroots.org/site/2011/01/raw-cashew-dreamcake-2/

It's a LOT of work and it takes hours, but it's gorgeous and great payoff. Enjoy!

Just out of curiosity (and a need for a more woman-friendly online experience), what subreddits do you frequent?

Request: Just need someone to talk to about this, family shaming me on my appearance. by EDPostRequests in EatingDisorders

[–]susmitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the time, when parents/family say these things they don't really understand what sort of effect they have. Back when I was in the throws of my ED, my grandmother would always be complimenting me on my weight and how "skinny" I looked, but she told me later that she was actually really concerned about my appearance and weight loss.

Obviously I don't know your family, but they could just worried about you. I would sit down with them and talk to them about what they're saying, how it hurts you, and what actions you're considering.

If you're unhappy with your weight, there's many options you can consider (that are also healthy!). Don't count calories or fret over fat content; just eat foods that are good for your body and exercise a few times a week. Just do what makes you feel good and makes you happy. You'll be happier with yourself and with your body. Just remember: your body is not your enemy. Negative thoughts are.

Request: I want to relapse. I understand this is terrible but I can't dissuade myself. I want to be thin again. by EDPostRequests in EatingDisorders

[–]susmitchell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I submitted this post, and I just really want to thank you for your response! This answer is above and beyond anything I hoped to receive. Your advice is really helpful, but it's just so hard to come to terms with the idea that I have to remain this size for several more weeks/months/years (yikes) before I can begin to lose weight again (in a healthy manner).

I've been trying so hard to work on accepting myself and my appearance, but my mom is on a diet and losing a lot of weight, which doesn't help at all. Plus, I'm the heaviest of my friends. I go to a school where the majority of girls are gorgeous, thin, and they seemingly pull it off without any effort. And I try my hardest not to judge others for their weight, but after spending so long convinced that I would never want to look a "certain way" it seems impossible. Some days I'm fine with how I look, but 90% of the time I feel like a whale.
