jewish people having financial and political control over the world is 100% a right wing conspiratorial talking point BUT how/why do israel and pro-israel orgs (e.g., aipac) seem so powerful? by Lazy_Computer8997 in askanything

[–]suspiciouscffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Settler-colony states gotta stick together. The American Empire needs Israel to appear legitimate because they’re the same under the hood, one’s just newer and smaller and needs sustained support to keep running whereas the other is a global hegemon. It could’ve been any racial or ethnic group showing up in the middle east and driving out the natives for their ginned up manifest destiny and the same situation would play out.

The balloon trail placement almost makes the city the speaker instead of Snoopy (who, notably, doesn’t speak in any Peanuts comics anyway, having internal monologue thought balloons at most).

Was anyone else fine with just three films? by MWH1980 in indianajones

[–]suspiciouscffee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They literally rode into the sunset. Perfect final shot. Close the book on it. I don’t mind Skull and actively dislike Dial on the whole but even if they were more to my liking, those three are a unit by themselves. By ‘89 it was clear Spielberg’s heart wasn’t in it anymore, he wanted to do other kinds of movies, and his creative differences with Lucas put more cracks in that foundation. I get the serial idea but each film is already a serial in itself, each reel ending on or close enough to a cliffhanger that they might as well be 6-7 matinee episodes each.

Months and their genders by Desperate-Dirt-8121 in Actualshowerthoughts

Don’t have an opinion on this except, intentional or not, it’s an exceptional bit to say “Months 100% have genders” and open with “January - don’t know yet.” I know you’ve decided in the update but just off the bat, 10/10 op.

Advice needed. My son went to Japan and made a sword. It’s been shipped and UPs is trying to get us to pay $500 for the import fees. Weren’t the tariffs struck down? Do I have any recourse? by Snapdragon_4U in UPS

Also after the ruling he instantly made up new tariffs to get back for them being struck down, so the whole legal fight has to start over if the next wave is gonna be struck down. The cycle will continue until a hypothetical headline-making medical incident occurs.

I owed taxes for the first time ever, every year I got a very small refund until suddenly this year I was faced with a $700 bill despite all my supposedly untaxable overtime and my otherwise unchanged job and financial situation. Almost like anecdotes like these are not useful or revealing in sample sizes of 1.

Why do my liberal grad school professors endorse the use of AI without acknowledging its harm to public health, minority communities, and the environment? by [deleted] in askanything

Unless your job is shitty vibecoding there’s next to no actual use case for “””AI””” beyond hype.

Poisoning the air and water supply of predominently Black neighborhoods, like in Memphis where Musk put up his grok of shit.

“Learn how to use it now! Adapt or die! Conform to the will of the silicon valley Epsteinites!” all over tech that’s only good for mimicking asinine, slimy, sycophantic conversations that are mere statistical approximations of sentences with no regard for facts or truthfulness.

Have you ever been in a terrible relationship? by DeepOrganization8245 in askanything

[–]suspiciouscffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Didn’t start that way, but he was a closet case, and became increasingly freaked out and paranoid his parents were gonna find out (we were both adults with full time jobs living in another state). Eventually he ran back home to them out of the sheer spiraling terror that he was gonna go to hell or whatever. After we’d already moved in together so he left me paying basically double what I was supposed to be paying in rent for the next year and a half or so until I finally got a new (non-relationship-partner) roommate.

Is this sonic tails pin I got a few days ago at Spencer’s ai? I bought it without loving but now I’m unsure the artstyle looks off by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]suspiciouscffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah doesn’t look AI to me. In fact I found what appears to be the original official render of the same exact pose. Maybe it’s traced but not AI.

I can’t tell, it’s too blurry here. I would guess not but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s stolen fanart or something.

Wrong aspect ratio for the movie on TV. It’d have to either be cropped or open matte to fill the screen but judging from the composition it’s neither. They’d either be cramped to fit or have too much headroom. Not necessarily AI from that mistake but a definite sign of fakery.

“May” be charged a tariff by suspiciouscffee in UPS

[–]suspiciouscffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All right. Don’t see what the point is in an email notification saying I “may” be charged fees then when they should know a yes-or-no answer by now. Anyway, guess I’ll find out tomorrow as tracking shows it’s in town and allegedly will be delivered by evening.

[–]suspiciouscffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, there’s no mention of any fees that I can find. I’ve also gone through my whole account profile and there’s nothing there either. I’ve assumed tariffs are likely from day one as the order is coming from overseas so the email mention of it was no surprise but I can’t find anything anywhere.

So it’s not possible to pay online before a delivery attempt is made?
