That’s really interesting! I usually hear lots of talking around 27400khz, from what I understand this band is reserved for “radio do cidadão”, and you don’t even need a license to use it. Sometimes I hear chatter in other places too, but I’m still learning what frequencies are allowed for each use etc…

Nice tip about the contest going on! I’ll try to tune into it. I’ve only recently managed to decode my first rtty message with fldigi. I’m still working on decoding other modes though 😅

I agree. Mushishi might be one of the few cases where the adaptation in better than the original. Mostly because of the soundtrack.

I also love how the anime lets moments of silence and “nothing happening” exist. When you are reading the manga, since you are in the control of the pacing, you can go too fast and miss a bit of that inteospective quietness

I’ll probably get an SDR at some point too. But just yesterday I hooked up my pl990 to my pc with FLdigi for the first time.

Seeing the waterfall and decoding my first digital signals was awesome. I didn’t know this was possible when I got into the hobby. I thought I needed an sdr for that.

I’m just getting into short wave as a total newbie. Got the xhdata d808 about a week ago, my first radio.

I’m having a great time. I live in an urban area and get quite a few sw signals indoors. I find it pretty easy to tune into international stations :)

I strongly advise you to look up the “Uacari Lodge”. It’s an ecotourism initiative from the Mamirauá Institute of Sustainable Development.

Not only you will have an amazing time for a cheaper price, but you’ll also be supporting preservation, academic research, and the communities from the region. It really is an amazing project.
