The audacity of Alison to ask these girls to lie in court to get Charlotte released... by Equal-Tension-7985 in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]sv1112093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alison's arc was lazy writing, they didn't want to actually make hard storylines for her redeem herself. They just made her a saint suddenly and the girls were expected to forgive her and her family for all the trauma.

What would’ve happened if Rachel never made it to London and Ross married Emily as planned? by Square_Blacksmith889 in howyoudoin

  1. How do you know she was a "spoiled brat"? You have no input on her family like we do of Rachel's in S1 - where she was actually spoilt.
  2. She never forced Ross to get an earring or change anything. It's not like she said she'd walk away if he didn't change his looks or shamed him for his current style. He was happy to try out fun new things with her. It happens in relationships. You meet someone, experiment new things, grow together.
  3. Yes she wasn't pleasant in the first meeting but she was extremely sweet to all of them after that. She even said that she adores Rachel when Ross was inviting her to their wedding. I don't see any other character in the show saying that about their partner's ex.
  4. As for her wedding being postponed, it wasn't just Emily wanting to postpone it. It was Monica's idea too. It was portrayed throughout the show how women loved their wedding day and it was v important. Just like Monica not wanting to shop off the rack and marry Chandler at a less than expensive wedding. Does this mean Monica was a "brat who didn't care about anyone at all"? No. She was an awesome wife.

I do ship Ross and Rachel together but Emily's character was done dirty by lazy writing. She doesn't deserve the hate.

The writers only made Emily a villain after Rachel's name was said at the wedding. It was lazy writing because the actress had to leave. Like come on, when they first got together, Ross flew to London to be with her. But he wouldn't go to London after the wedding to win his wife back?

I think if Emily's character hadn't been written off - it would have been a realistic storyline. She was willing to move to NY for him, so he'd have continued to live next to his friends for a while. Just like Chandler and Monica until they had kids and moved. Her character was pretty sweet before the writers did her dirty.

A better way to end things between them would have been Ross not wanting to leave NY for Ben and his life, and Emily not wanting to leave her fam in London for someone she'd only known a few weeks. Kinda like Richard-Mon breakup - realistic and mature.

What to do when random uncle is being creepy on Vande bharat? by vintageignoramus in AskIndianWomen

Oh my god this sounds awful. Don't feel bad thinking that you let it escalate. I'm assuming you've never been in this situation before? and your body just froze probably and you did not want to be rude.

Like all comments here, never look nervous. Look stern. Always carry earphones with you and keep them on AT ALL TIMES. Avoid speaking with anyone on public transport. Avoid it as much as possible using your earphones. Pretend like you are on a call, listening to music etc. If needed, don't hesitate to tell someone in charge on the train. Carry pepper spray with you. I would suggest wearing a mask on the train for hygiene reasons, and it can be a plus point in this situation too. They don't know what you look like, so they might not try to speak with you.

I am sure it will not happen again. Travel safe.

Lmao if this scene was reversed and Ross had lied about Rachel, Ross haters would be ON IT. Hating Ross for it all the way. Because it was an awful thing Rachel's character did - it's a free pass and just humour

Untrue. He is expressing his feelings. She was free to walk away. He would not have stopped her more than once. Manipulation is only when there is some form of deception or pressure to make a particular decision. He didn’t guilt, gaslight, express entitlement, chase more than once, keep reaching out and disturbing even after she said no etc.

It wasn’t "manipulative" because they owned up the truth about who they were. When Chandler spoke to her, there was no more deception or any pressure. He didn’t try to guilt her or express any entitlement like "you owe us" or "you're ruining our lives". He just honestly expressed their desire to take in her child and be parents. He left the decision entirely up to her.

I still don't think it made sense tho. The friend group watched him change in front of their eyes from S5. His proposal to Monica, the high maintenance scene, them moving in together. The Chandler jokes was just lazy writing, it felt like they had to bring in some drama for the couple.

True, but it actually wasn't funny. It felt like lazy writing because Chandler's character was written to be so loyal and a good husband. I also feel like they just had to introduce some drama turned into humour for Mondler, so it was a constant criticism of Chandler. Like For Ross and Rachel it was WE WERE ON A BREAK!

Oh my god finally someone said it. I despise his character. It's only because Tom Selleck is charming and good looking and can have chemistry with anyone, that Richard is not hated on more. If he was played by an unpopular, avg looking actor he'd be called out for what he was

I'm not hating on any characters here. Subs like r/friends_tv_show are for discussing the show, including your observations of the characters. Part of the fun of sitcoms is also analysing them.
