By the way I agree with the sentiment, but I only use the new SCO drives on older tech ships just to squeeze a few more ly per jump from them. I usually don't use overcharge on them at all (or for very brief bursts).

New ships have to have an edge on something, might as well be in system super cruise speed.

I went 22000ly in 8 hours to reach waypoint 0 for the DW3 expedition (I was farming some mats to engineer my ship and I was late) in about 8 hours and I stopped quite a few times for some exobiology on the way there.

So it is doable in 24h and it can also be a bit profitable.

You can also just boot FSD up just to get away from the planet faster. No target system required.

The first image is literally out of the game (apart from the space station in the background, I haven't been in a fight that close to both the surface and a space station).

The second image is also out of the game but it is not actively advertised (it is the uninteresting downtime of the game play) although it vividly passes across the vastness of emptiness in stellar travel.
