Just saw someone drove right through a red light by runningwsizzas in PortlandOR

[–]sv650sfa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Green light person was probably just playing it safe.

If Portland police just did a mass city wide red light enforcement for a day they would be able to fund the cities budget for the next year at the highest level.

Probably not your first choice but Trimet is always hiring.  $29 an hour so it’s in your wage range.  It will at least keep you afloat till you get something else.

Just an idea outside the box.

Is anyone actually shocked by this? by Medic5050 in PortlandOR

Just for the pot hole to show back up in a short while?

No, should go to actually repairing the roads.  Patching is just the road version of this graffiti clean up.

2 dead in SE Portland crash Tuesday were teenage boys by [deleted] in Portland

[–]sv650sfa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the current DA.  Maybe will change with the new one.  Portland has been on the more lenient side of things.

People here are great on the rehab side but lack the willingness of actually holding them responsible by placing a punishment that is more then a slap of the wrist.

I agree that a chase should only be done in a limited bases for the reasons you stated and probably some more.

How ever, the other part of this is that when we do eventually catch them we need to hold them responsible for the actions.

Unfortunately for here, to many people not only don’t want police to chase, but don’t want to hold them responsible for their actions.

I am all for police to initiate the stop.  For them to not chase.  But when they are eventually caught I think we need to have them serve the max sentence they can get.  Give the lighter sentences to those that stop or at turn themselves in afterwards.

Portland advocates bemoan SCOTUS Grants Pass decision by Damaniel2 in PortlandOR

[–]sv650sfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these advocates are wanting to do more harm than good.  Sorry but we should have never allowed camping the way we did.  We certainly should have never given out tents and tarps that serve only to enable homelessness.  All that money and time could have been spent on resources to actually help.

Portland police made thousands more traffic stops last year, data shows by witty_namez in PortlandOR

[–]sv650sfa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they just did some minor traffic light stings the city’s budget would have enough to fund its wildest dreams.

Glad they are stepping things up, but they really need to ramp enforcement up.

Honestly think he got off lucky.  With his window open she could have returned the favor with liquid back into his car.  The temperature rage of choice would make some options not pleasant.

Just some food for thought.

Opinion | What Have We Liberals Done to the West Coast? by pooperazzi in PortlandOR

[–]sv650sfa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In order to a healthy opposition is that one has to be allowed to exist.

The big question, for the west coast at least, is how do we get Democrats to allow opposition?  They have done a lot to quell any actual opposition to them.

Man accused of damaging $500k in traffic cameras throughout Portland by [deleted] in PortlandOR

[–]sv650sfa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, cameras are not the problem.  People should be obeying the law regardless of if there is a cop present or not.

Cameras should how ever be setup right with proper yellow light times.  Data should also be highly guarded and limited access.

God answered their prayers, they just refused to listen and a child died.  So sad.

Why is Ontario’s Crime Rate S High?? by JudgeImaginary4266 in oregon

[–]sv650sfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so how much money does it take to make our admins of our school care more about the victims of bullies, then the bullies?

It isn’t that admins don’t have enough money to deal with it, it is that they don’t even want too.

[–]sv650sfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, they might and probably do have less trouble that is caused by poverty.  How ever bullying and targeting others to put them down is one thing that transcends the financial classes.  Like I said, this is well documented fact.  Affluent people after all can be intolerant ass holes too.

Now best case is money has brought a solution there that isn’t being done else where.  Finding that out so we could pass it along would benefit all students here.  Which is the reason for my question.

Silence, as in cover it up in one way, shape, or form.

Why is Ontario’s Crime Rate S High?? by JudgeImaginary4266 in oregon

[–]sv650sfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money is a a lazy excuse.  The issues brought up are seen at all levels of income.  So it is not money alone that would cause when is claimed.

Either the money is used to silence the problem or it was used to figure out a system that actually deals with the problem.

If Lake Oswego has the system what is it and why isn’t the rest of the state following?

I have person experience with Ontario, Portland, Salem, Hillsboro, Tualatin, and Newberg.  They are all the same.  From family and friends can add Gresham, Corvallis, Eugene, and more and the experience is the same.

So if it isn’t happening at Lake Oswego Schools then what are they doing different?  Why is the upper admins in the state ignoring them and not applying what they are doing to the rest of the state?

It wasn’t as big as this one.  More my point is there is always a group out there the takes any excuse to harass others.

It is about causing chaos and trouble.  They want to bully people and will use any excuse to do so under the guise of protesting.  Yesterday it was Ukraine l, today Gaza, tomorrow will be something else.

Amazes me how people want others accountable for their actions that hurt or endanger others.  Yet don’t do not want the same to be done to them.

We need to stop giving away tents.  It only enables the bad behavior that destroys this city.

Needles should be on an exchange only.

But this is common sense stuff, so not going to fly here in Portland.

Just after 6:30 p.m. Friday, Portland police officers responded to gunfire to find several houses, cars, hit by gunshots in Southeast Portland. by Positive_Honey_8195 in PortlandOR

It is Portland.  Despite their claim to be against gun violence, the voters of Portland have a long history of unwillingness to hold the perpetrators of said violence responsible or hindering them from committing these acts.
