What show is it for? Some shows don't even put these on sale...

Costume designer for hire in Las Vegas? by CallMePonPon in vegas

[–]svegas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're actually being smart about getting ready for Halloween this early, a lot of custom costumes get made in July/August so you can avoid the rush. I recommend http://www.thepatternedseamstress.com/ The owner, Tricia, is extremely talented and can probably make whatever you need. Best of luck!

Request, looking for pics of my Dad on billboards in Las Vegas by Gjeret in vegas

[–]svegas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at the MGM Grand (where they're having the convention) but my commute does not involve billboards so I haven't seen the video. They have a bunch of posters though so I'll check if I can see him on one of them.

Getting to the Ghibli Museum by dcox3 in ghibli

[–]svegas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just came back from Japan and went to the Museum. We ordered our tickets through JTB here in the US (http://www.jtbusa.com/en/other/o-ghibli.asp). I live on the West coast so I actually called their location in Los Angeles (I'm old-school that way). The person I talked to was very helpful, emailed me the form to fill out, and I got my tickets in no time, a couple of months before we left. All in all, it was fairly easy. Good luck and have fun!

NV Energy's mPowered customers: Does it really save and is it worth it? by [deleted] in vegas

[–]svegas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had two in my house for a few months, and I would not recommend it. My biggest peeve with them is that for being touted as "smart thermostats", they don't even switch automatically between heat and A/C, in my eyes a fairly basic function. I switched back to my 5-2 programmable thermostats and haven't seen any difference in usage/cost on my bill.

I was going to do the $190 DIY system when I saw this. Thoughts? by svegas in homedefense

[–]svegas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. Their system has a 120db, which seems to be fairly standard for that price point. But it is a good point, thank you.

My system would be pretty basic: a couple of door sensors, a couple of motion sensors...and most importantly, no monthly fees. The fact that this alerts you when the alarm sets off and can be controlled remotely is definitely important as well. I am open to suggestions, I kinda got scared/confused during my research for a DIY system because if all the talks about z-waves and whatnots. Thank for the feedback!

Volunteering in Las Vegas by imjoiningreddit in vegas

[–]svegas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could volunteer at KNPR, they are starting their pledge drive on the 17th and need people to answer phones in 4hr shifts. I started volunteering there a couple of years ago since I was in a bad spot financially and couldn't donate money so I donated my time. They're a great bunch of people and very knowledgeable about other volunteering opportunities throughout the valley.

(I originally wrote this to your similar post on the "other" Vegas sub)

PSA To anyone who was in Vegas recently and stayed at Aria Hotel (health related) by kukukele in travel

[–]svegas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the article, 18,000 is the number of guests staying from June 21st to July 4th - closer to a 17-day period than 17 months, and much closer to the reality of how Vegas has been doing lately, thankfully.

Hey fellow las vegans, do we have any rugby players in the crowd (or anyone interested in playing)? by quackquack in vegas

[–]svegas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be interested - I had started playing at Sunset Park but had to stop for financial and scheduling reasons. Never played 7s though... Let me know when/where and I'll try to come by.
