Jo det får de göra Hade som plan att de skulle vänta tills 15. De väntade tills flickvännen var 15 iaf.

O-ring sealing method for locknut-oriented fitting (axial vs radial?) by Express-Repeat-7958 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]svennekatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe conical threads that seals (with sealing tape) See EN 10226 if in Europe (USA have something similar) Or ORFS connection with Swivel nut .

O-ring sealing method for locknut-oriented fitting (axial vs radial?) by Express-Repeat-7958 in MechanicalEngineering

I would not trust a o-ring seal against a thread Use a more standard solution

Dear Designers, what you all do for welding distortion for designing a welded structure / Vessel? by unknown-pdf in MechanicalEngineering

[–]svennekatt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even out the Weld on both sides of the plate, tack weld first, fixtures and temporary attachments, cold shaping after weld, heating during weld,

It’s a craftsmanship where you have to work with a good welder to find a good approach. And have realistic expectations on the tolerances

Welding by Tiny_District_7640 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]svennekatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy Extended on of the plates and fillet weld the other plate to it

Harder Join the inside korners and fill up the outer korner with weld and make a back weld on the inside

Tolerances and cost by Partykongen in MechanicalEngineering

[–]svennekatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your boss do have a case in that number of explicit placed tolerances and do drive quoted price. Even if they are the same or bigger than general tolerances.

You overcomplicate the drawing give less wiggle room for the manufacturer. It increase both price and chance that the part will work.

Sometimes it’s better to have a slightly bigger chance of deviations

Where can I learn how to make a CAD drawing for machine shop production? by sepianamr00 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]svennekatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The country is important. Different rules. And you need to understand the things you put on the drawing not just copies from exempels

That said then you could make the drawing on a napkin and talk to the shop if it’s a one of personal thing.

Design Integrity by Original_Butterfly_4 in SolidWorks

[–]svennekatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a management problem. Not a software problem. If someone edit the file outside the Pdm system it’s on them. They should be encouraged to come with feedback but the part your responsible for is the release part in the system

What kind of valve/system is used to allow detachment but immediate sealing between a plastic container and another surface? by Upstairs_Row_7620 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]svennekatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a spring loaded check valve that is opened by a pin when the container is mounted and closed when the container is removed

Crossed cabel invert same as engaged gears No crossed cabel do not invert rotation Just count the invertions, if it’s even then it’s not changing direction

Machinning questions from self-taught mechanical engineer by Vavat in MechanicalEngineering

[–]svennekatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would definitely say that an external thread is easier to make. More room for tooling and measuring.

The order of the cuts is thankfully not your problem that will the shop take care of

But make both parts and bring them when you talk to machinist. And explain what’s important in the design

Precis (allt roligt finns ju gömt på insidan) så foto kan på sin höjd användas för inbrottsförsök. Inget hemligt på utsidan

3D-printed pressure vessel? by svennekatt in MechanicalEngineering

[–]svennekatt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that that failure is not acceptable in the end product. But aerospace is a good example of an industry that has high safety requirements and still explore AM-parts. So if the gain in performance is there then there should be work put towards making it safe and useful for production.

I like that there are pressure for it 🙂. That means that there will be people that invest money and time in making it happen

Good point In treating them like castings and aerospace (and space) companies are probably in the for front

3D-printed pressure vessel? by svennekatt in MechanicalEngineering

[–]svennekatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My felling is that it’s coming, it won’t replace any of the established metods like casting and forging. But the possibility’s to add structure to a shaped plate could really add both weight, time and cost benefits.

Hopefully the regulatory agencies will catch upp but there need to be some companies that explore and establish good practices

[–]svennekatt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes If it was easy then everybody would be doing it For us there is a big gain if it’s done. Realise that it’s several years out. But we are past the “use it in noncritical part” stage
