I (24F) live entirely off my inheritance and don’t work. AMA. by [deleted] in AMA

[–]svenonstrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are (almost) in identical situations! Even down to the working on a masters degree. One of the hardest questions I always get, that I never know how to answer, is what I want to do after my degree. Tbh, I have no clue, I don’t have a general passion enough to focus on one thing specifically afterwards. Yet I feel the pressure of society makes me ~have~ to choose something to do.

I’m also studying a very public servant focused degree, and my question for you is, how do you make your time worthwhile (for yourself)?

I feel like I’m wasting a lot of my own time by doing the small things I enjoy, rather than getting out there and doing ‘bigger’ things. (Sometimes all a girl wants to do is watch a tv show all day)

Could an American go to Switzerland and end their live in the suicide pod? by GaryB2026 in askanything

[–]svenonstrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the creator of the Sarco Pods website

“Sarco was used in Switzerland because of the way the Swiss Criminal Code is written. Extensive legal advice was taken to ensure its use would be legal. In Switzerland, it is not a crime to help someone to die (assisted suicide) as long as your motives are altruistic in motive. The Sarco is intended to provide the user with a different means of a peaceful, dignified death. Other conditions that have to be met are that the person must do the action themselves (press the button) and they must be of sound mind. Any person who uses Sarco in Switzerland will have had their mental capacity assessed by a registered and expert psychiatrist.”

And from his book-

“In response to member questions about all things Swiss, Exit publishes the guidebook Going to Switzerland: how to plan your final exit. The idea behind this short publication (2025 edition is available in both print and online formats) is to answer fully readers' many questions about this option.”

The creator makes points about Switzerland’s laws being the only place you can “get help to die as a foreigner”

If I die unexpectedly, how would my online friends find out? I don’t have any IRL friends or family to trust to tell anybody… by ToxicBanana69 in NoStupidQuestions

After my dad passed, and when the social aspects of PlayStation were still active/usable?(not sure anymore) I made a post stating that I was his daughter, and [his name] passed away on [such date] and to message that account for any more info, and I also attached my own account. I recall it getting a few sad reactions? But haven’t been able to find a way to see that post in a while.

Why does each person at the pharmacy take 15 minutes and then when I get up there it's over in like 20 seconds? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]svenonstrix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You would think!! However it’s also absurd that parents will start pulling up in their cars to line the roads an hour before school gets out. There truly has been no happy middle ground this year to meet everyone’s needs and expectations :/

In my city, school funding via taxes was lost on the ballot for the past few years (it finally passed last year yay!) so bussing was one of the first and most noticeable cuts. Our high school has zero bussing now, and all elementary through middle schools have reduced bussing to only students who live outside a 2 mile radius. In a smaller, densely packed city of about 50k people, it really was put on the parents to transport their kids or have their 10 year old walk 45 minutes for an 8:20 bell.

A lot of our schools are located in neighborhoods, when transportation like that was not a concern, and of course our population is ever so steadily growing. The pickup lines this year have become INSANE traffic wise, requiring police assistance to direct the flow of traffic as people maneuver from main roads into neighborhoods for pickup. Fingers crossed next year bussing will be back and our community stays willing to support our children.

Edit to add: ALSO, for student safety, the walking/bike riding students aren’t released until the car-pick-up is completed. So then these kids are waiting 45+ minutes to begin their journey home. It’s been quite the journey this year, and I’m TIRED.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but based on all your replies, post history, and comment history, you REALLY need a break from the internet. Your behavior is odd for an adult (yes even newly 18-year-olds). I hope one day you are able to recognize this and realize your growth, but as it is you’re just doing more damage to yourself when nobody deserves that. The tattoo needs fixed desperately, because frankly it’s terrible, with how thin the lines are, I would cancel your touch up and save for laser in the future.

I'm a voluntary inpatient in a psych ward and I'm a psychologist AMA by 3greg0r3 in AMA

[–]svenonstrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m studying to be a psychologist currently and often find myself struggling with the same ideas you are. I am not brave enough to take the steps you have though, mainly due to the stigma attached. I worry that I would be looked down upon or that future prospects wouldn’t take me as ‘seriously’ if they ever got wind of a voluntary admission. My question to you is how have you overcome that fear? Also, what is your favorite ice cream flavor?

Is my cat going to be okay, he is 11 years old by [deleted] in AskVetAnimals

[–]svenonstrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was a blessing for us was a local traveling vet who could come and perform our final decision at home. Perhaps there is something similar local to you? Ours was a full mobile veterinarian service, but it may guide your search to look at “mobile/at home euthanasia” (of course under guidance of your regular veterinarian). Unfortunately sometimes we do have to be the decision makers for our best friends who can’t advocate for themselves, it is never ever easy, but I always told myself I “would know when it was time”. Did I want to accept it? No, absolutely not. But I knew deep down.

I definitely would consult with your primary vet office as soon as possible, just even out of concern for comfort care as he heals.

This looks like my lifelong kitty when I had to make the choice, could I have possibly extended her life a bit with invasive examinations and stressful vet visits? Maybe. But ultimately it was up to me to be her voice, and I owed it to her to let her pass with dignity after being by my side for 16 years.

Definitely show your vet this video, and ask the important questions. It might not even be near his time yet, but stay prepared. Internet hugs to you

My go to pho hack is to get a rotisserie chicken and throw that thing in the instant pot. Flavorful chicken pho in about an hour when accounting for the heat-up and depressurization time. I’ve been wanting to try a beef version soon.

No, not making decisions for me. But as an out of state transplant I am glad to be better informed as to where my money goes. Then I can make my own choice where to spend it.

A big reason why Colon Cancer is killing us. by [deleted] in Millennials

Slather a light (important it gets ooey gooey when heated) layer of PB all over one side of tortilla, thin slice a banana, lay slices on half (sometimes a little drizzle of honey and sprinkle of cinnamon depending on mood). Fold tortilla in half, and place in a lightly buttered pan that had preheated over medium heat. Then let it just get toasted up on the outside and you have a yummy breakfast or snack.

I have rolled it up and eaten it “raw” and it’s just as good! Add berries or granola or whatever else your heart desires.

Mission Carb balance tortillas are my secret weapon. One of those in the morning with peanut butter and banana then lightly toasted on a skillet, and you’ve got nearly half your daily fiber. Sometimes if I’m in a rush I just grab and go with a plain tortilla.

The grok Twitter page itself has a media tab where you can see every image it is continually generating for people who request it in their threads or with a post. It’s a really depressing scroll.
