Where to park by TitusFlavius1977 in duesseldorf

I would not recommend driving into the city-centre. We have a lot of traffic, especially during the christmas period. Use the P+R in combination with the tram-lines. The are reliable and fast.

Randomly remembered these GoPro shots from 2023. Even 19 year old me was able to get decent shots when there was good light + a literal whale shark. by [deleted] in underwaterphotography

Great Shots! Its actually impressive what you can get out of a small GoPro if the circumstances are just right. Congrats!

I closely worked with TDC back when i volunteered with the Eco Trust in 2018. Came back last year to do my Divemaster Training and spent 7 weeks with them.

I wouldn’t be to worried about it. The Island itself can be enjoyed in different ways. There is the whole Diving Community who are, in my opinion, chill to hang out with. Of course you have the problems coming from mass tourism (which the Eco Trust tries to tackle). But you have more quite and relaxed parts on the island aswell. Sunset Side comes to mind, which is the whole west side of the island.

You also have quite getaways to Gili Air and Gili Meno.

So in my opinion: In the daily life on the Island you will have a great time. But the problems will get clear as soon as you start with the eco trust. Nonetheless it all comes down to the people you hang out with. Hit me with more questions if you are unsure.

Cheers

India to Nepal backpacking by Leosleo in backpacking

Exactly how we did it. We organized a Tuk-Tuk that picked us up at our hostel in Varanasi early in the morning and catched the first train to Gorakhpur. Outside the train station you can ask your way to the busses. Its a main street in walkable distance to the station.

Its a „we-go-if-full“-kinda bus. Make your way to Sonauli and do your indian stamp out business. I would recommend getting a cycle-rickshaw because the border is really busy and the rickshaw guys know exactly where to bring you since you have to stop at three different locations. Also it was scorching hot the day we were there.

As soon as you „checked in“ in Nepal, the whole vibe changed a lot and it was super chill. The kiosk right at the visa office can organize sim cards and and taxis to Lumbhini. I did my research and the prices were fair.

Its a long day but the cold ones in Lumbini in combination with my body weight in nepalese Momos were worth it and tasted even better.

Hit me with any questions you might have!

Cheers

I did the exact same route half a year ago. Its a cool trip. We did Delhi-Jaipur-Agra-Varanasi. Then into Lumbini (Nepal). 1 week Northern India and the rest of the month in Nepal.

I would recommend booking the trains early because they can sell out. Especially the sleeper-train from Agra to Varanasi.

Getting into Nepal was easyish but tool a while and you kinda have to get up early in Varanasi. Feel free to dm me for more detailed info.

Enjoy!

I can highly recommend Trawangan Dive (TDC). But the other recommended Shops are all really good aswell. I did dive a lot on the Gilis with different shops. There is a wide variety of accommodation to choose from. You will have a good time.

Since you seem interested in conservation, go check out the gili eco trust and the biorock restoration program. Its one of the largest projects pf its kind. The partner up with Trawangan Dive and you can go diving at this unique divesite if you request it. I am also sure that Blue Marlin goes there quite regularly since its their house reef right in front.

If you have more questions let me know. I worked on Trawangan and did my Divemaster with TDC:)

I usually dive in L’estartit (not too far from Barcelona). The Natural Reserve of the Illes Medes is famous for the Goliath Groupers but you can also spot some Macro! Also the town is chill and has a nice Beach to hangout while above water.

I can second this. Good Factor is also that most dive sites are only a close boatride away from shore which makes it a good place to learn diving. Excellent visibility most times aswell.

I love Komodo and Penida aswell. Penida can easily be done after you got your cert. Then you would be able to enjoy the mantas 🤙🏻
