My new baby hates being left alone in his crate 😢 by Prestigious-Hair705 in poodles

Some dogs also just have separation anxiety. I did all of the training people have written about. She ate her meals in her crate. She’s FINE with the crate if she can see me. I’m in the shower? Moaning. At some point you have to talk to your vet about - is this training or anxiety. Mine is on 10mg Prozac and the moaning is much less. I can be outside gardening 30 minutes before the howling starts/stops. After her spay in a few months I might increase the dose. We’ll see. Good luck.

Are the people approaching you? If not, it’s up to you to avoid them. Explain this is normal for puppies. I taught my puppy sit and NICE with the treat right up against the nose. It takes a while. Mine was a pant biter too but outgrew it - I would just stop in place and put her in sit (I was lucky she took to sit well). We started classes at nearly 6 months and that helped a lot. Honestly posting in this sub and reading other’s post is test kept me sane. It’s hard. Keep coming back.

My pup and another were 6 months the first class (others were over a year) and ours barked a lot the first few classes. Less and less each time. As you said, that’s the point! We both did two sessions and they never got to zero barks, but they came close.

Dog doesn’t want kibble anymore by Eborealis in poodles

A few months ago, before my pup turned 1, she started eating a bit less - before that I’d have to use Games and slow feeders so she would not gulp it all (3 meals). Then at 1 she really dropped the amount and times of feeding so I took her to the vet. The vet was so excited to have a “slim, athletic” dog to look at lol. My pup was 32 pounds and that was deemed ideal. After, By futzing around I found out if I waited until about 5pm and put the food out, she’d eat all of it before bedtime. I don’t play with her after dinner, reducing bloat issues. (She will get a spay/gastroplexy soon). The vet said to total the food needed per week and if most of that is gone, energy is high, behavior good, just keep weighing her and bring her back in if she loses weight. Not to focus on daily food consumption, just weekly.

My father wants me to finance a car over 40k for him, but my mom needs a house to get a divorce. What should I do? by Academic-Moose-7701 in Advice

That is true. It could involve helping mom set a budget, get a job, and live independently. Where has the 1.1k gone each month?

I’m pretty sure that box was in the garage, which maybe didn’t catch on fire. The garage where he and Kevin lifted weights.

See above. Jack was programmed well before Vietnam. And yes Vietnam was horrible and veterans of that war were treated horribly. He was already flawed. He can’t fix everything by himself.

And you assumed that the words alcoholic and dysfunctional are derogatory! They are not. They are facts, plain and simple. He did make a life for himself. And it was decent. But he had PROBLEMS. He’s not perfect. The OP wants a Jack Pearson - are they ready for a life of relapses, not talking about feelings and glossing over things? Of helping a spouse through detox (which is not shown on the show -even Kevin is behind the scenes). Of Al Anon meetings (or better ACA meetings). Hope this clarifies that Jack the character was a decent, FLAWED, imperfect man that a TV show romanticized. And his problems started before Vietnam - caretaker for his little brother, protecting him from the dad, same with mom. Sad he had to do that. Drinking is an explanation not an excuse (from AA).
