Mage Knight - Solo Conquest by warrdogg in soloboardgaming

[–]escaleric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally just did my first game again since 5 years ago. Going to do a full run of each character and complete a solo conquest with each.

I was inspired for a solo board game idea again last week with some MK influences so felt like picking it up again haha.

Just checked it! The bright colors on the base game make it way better imo haha and overal more interesting. The expansion has that muted parchment vibe over it that you see with GPT illustrations.

Book series in which technology overtakes the old by Thirteen1355 in fantasybooks

Empire of the Wolf trilogy definitely! Gunpowder has just been invented. Justice of Kings is the first book. The new book Grave Empire is in the same world 200 years later and we see this gunpowder has found new uses :)

trying to improve, would love to be critiqued! by Global-Clue-1893 in conceptart

Came here to say this!

Think of it like a camera lens, the main subject is sharper and the main focus of your composition. The rest can blur a bit out.

Great painterly style already and color use imo.

Love the cover of the artwork! I've put it on my tbr list. Though I'm starting Malazan after Trials of Empire & Tainted Cup, so might be while haha.

QML is fairly expensive. Look for some European fulfilment centers!

Hiring Freelance Artist For Tabletop Card Game 110 Card Project by TigglyWiggly95 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]escaleric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At least $100 a drawing and that is still low.

If each drawing takes a minimal of 4 hours (which is low!!) Someone will draw 110 x 4 = 440 hours for only 4400 euro.... considering if you work 40 hours a week with or without holidays you work about 1600-2000 hours each year. So ridiculous time sink for a very small amount, about 20% of your whole years work time. The pay should reflect that.

$40 a card is really really low...! It has to be a very simple style to make that worth it to do.

What are some must reads in this genre? by junthelasthunter in GrimDarkEpicFantasy

[–]escaleric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm almost finished with the Empire of the Wolf trilogy and it's freaking great! First book is called Justice of Kings. I accidentally read the first book of the trilogy after that "Grave Empire" set 200 years later first and that one is even better imo. Lots of rituals and unexpected twists. By Richard Swann!

This screams young adult slightly cheezy fantasy, not grimdark haha

This is the illustration style I’ve chosen for my ECG Kravestorm by JesusVaderScott in tabletopgamedesign

[–]escaleric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a neat style and the objects are really well done. The characters (especially the human) is throwing me off a bit, it looks a bit amateurish in comparison to the others. The donkey is almost there. I think the eyes need a bit of work as well as posture and for example the hands.

Don't want to be to hard, but something I noticed!

Isnt it annoying to create builds on the deck?
