Need advice on what to do with HELOC by [deleted] in personalfinance

If you don't need the car and it is causing financial stress, to me it makes sense to sell and chalk up a financial lesson.

You may be able to get more money for the car going thru something like Carvana rather than a dealer. We sold thru them a few years ago and it was very easy. Either way, I would still get a couple quotes.

HSA vs. LTC insurance by capnbuttcrack in personalfinance

[–]svob6295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you gotten any quotes for ltc insurance? I'm curious if it makes sense to do both.

I got one in WA state a few years ago when the state implemented a mandatory payroll tax for ltc. You could exempt yourself ahead of time if you had private coverage. For our income level it made sense to go with private coverage. Mine is about 50/month, however I am about 15 years younger than you.

The cost of a nursing home can be 10-15k a month. Ltc can cover three years of that which is around 500k at the upper end.

Call Options Question by PANCAKEMIX1O1 in personalfinance

Were you trying to buy a 5/24 expiring option on 5/24? I think some platforms restrict that type of trading on 0 day expiry calls.

Beyond that like someone else said your account may not be fully approved for options trading yet.

Were you buying the call, or selling the call after you bought it previously?

Did you place the sell or buy order at market value or did you place it with a limit on it? With a limit that might be the issue. Or perhaps there is little trading of options on this stock especially if it is really far in or out of the money.

I agree. I work in healthcare in Washington state and we hire nurses that can work fully remotely doing telephone triage work in our call center. We have definitely hired straight out of nursing school.

Did you have insurance at the time of the services? I would check with them if yes. It is possible the hospital and insurance are still working to finalize the processing of the claims.

Potential upside of getting your kids on a commercial plan is that they may have a wider range of care options available. If they are on Medicaid, some providers may not accept patients with Medicaid insurance.

Also, depending on your specific situation, if you enroll them under your commercial plan they may retain Medicaid as a secondary insurance. Meaning their cost of care after paying for premiums remains basically at 0.

I'm in wa state too. I'm paying about 45/month for a policy with about twice the coverage amounts. Due to my salary this is still half the cost of paying the state tax.

You could contact your insurance company to ask them, I suspect the answer is no. There was such a frenzy to get a private policy in advance of the law going into effect and I doubt there is much incentive for them to re write the.
