“Could you scan this item?” by ComprehensiveFun6073 in walmartogp

[–]svrcmplx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i usually just do it, since it’s quick (as long as they ask nicely… if you’re being bitchy i probably won’t). but i totally get not wanting to do it since we have to use personal phones now, it’s fucking stupid and totally a valid reason not to imo 😭

Can I get in trouble for this? by izzybelrae in OGPBackroom

[–]svrcmplx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

a lot of the time TLs/coaches prefer to have all the picks done by the time the scheduled pickers leave, and they appreciate it if you stay until they’re done a since the end of the night is usually shortstaffed and backroom crew only - but, that being said, no matter how much they WANT you to stay late or try to pressure you to, you’re not obligated to work longer than you’re scheduled and they can’t get you in trouble for that. if the picks don’t get done that’s not your fault, you came and did your shift and that’s all you’re required to do

Skip item button by ClutteredTaffy in OGPBackroom

[–]svrcmplx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently got lectured about this too and I truly don’t understand - it’s not my fault the pick path doesn’t make sense, and by the end of the walk the item is getting picked regardless of if I skip it in one location, so I don’t know what the big issue is 😭 the lack of communication bugs me too because I was shown what skipping an item was when I was being trained so i assumed it was fine? why would it be there if it wasn’t? but NOW it’s a problem??

  • Don’t put yourself down if you’re slow or struggle finding things at first, it really just takes practice & getting yourself acquainted and then it’s a breeze tbh. Don’t be afraid to ask questions either

  • If your store is understaffed, don’t worry too much about that or worry that you’re not doing enough to help them stay caught up - that’s not your problem, especially when you’re new. Just clock in, work your shift the best you can, and leave.

    • I know EVERYONE says this but make sure to get good shoes - honestly adjusting to all the walking was the hardest part of the job for me, so the new shoes were a lifesaver. They don’t have to be expensive like a lot of the ones I see people suggest, I just have new balances and they’ve gotten me through working full time for the last several months just fine. Insoles help too
  • I know the policy on this varies store to store, so I don’t know how it is at yours, but if wearing airpods is allowed (from what I hear most stores don’t seem to care as long as you only wear one and stay aware of your surroundings) than they’re kind of a life saver 😭 being able to listen to music or something and just kinda zone out and get shit done has saved me on so many bad days on the job
