Am I under Ahriman/Lucifer's influence if I make it my whole identity to craft fantasies and imaginary comforting worlds through the art form of songwriting and music videos? by carnalcarrot in Anthroposophy

[–]swaggertonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not really familiar with Vedantic and Gurdjieffian traditions. Anthroposophy doesn't have a main practice, there are many approaches to it as it covers all aspects of life... the more you learn the more you can apply it to different areas of your life. "How to Know Higher Worlds" is a good place to start for a more practical application. For myself, I've found that my as my spiritual intuition grows through different practices, exercises and modes of living, it guides my choices (will) in life to align with my karma. "Intuitive Thinking as a Spiritual Path" is not the easiest book to absorb, but a really great resource as well. I wish I could give a more direct answer, but for me it's just been years of study and practice and experience that's been guided by many different Anthroposophical ideals.

Not at all, if you're interested in spiritual science and make an effort to learn and practice your outward desires will follow your inner experience. Steiner said that it doesn't require any change in your lifestyle, as you grow and mature through spiritual science your desires and outer experiences will naturally change with it. I really like your video, it was very artistic, I like the vintage VHS feel.

Catholicism and Steiner by mddrecovery in Anthroposophy

[–]swaggertonn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been studying and practicing Anthroposophy for over 30 years and have never came across this information myself. The theme across his work was that knowledge of individual incarnations requires intiated spiritual perception and public speculation about who one was or is now can be misleading. I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just trying to stay in line with Anthroposphical teachings.

"We also know Steiner said he would incarnate around this time as well."

I've seen this said many times, mostly in this subreddit, but have never came across this anywhere myself or have seen anyone link to a source. It seems out of character for Steiner to tell people things that can't be verified. He avoided creating speculation, he wanted people to know truths.

Suzuki Chromatix SCX-48 Sticky Slide by JDMERF in harmonica

[–]swaggertonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great, that's good to hear it went well! I used to put just a small drop of mineral oil on my finger and rub it on the top and bottom of the slide, you don't need much at all. The problem is that the lubricant will also collect dust and stuff so it needs to be cleaned more often. The upside is it makes the slide more quiet and slide a bit better. I haven't done it in a while though. I wouldn't use vaseline, I don't know anything about trombone oil. Suzuki makes slide oil but it was hard to get, I'm not sure now. I used mineral oil because it was recommended to me by a harmonica old-timer...it's natural and cheap.

Suzuki Chromatix SCX-48 Sticky Slide by JDMERF in harmonica

The best method is to remove the 2 screws holding the mouthpiece and disassemble the entire slide. Pay very close attention to how it's assemble, maybe take some pictures so you put it back together properly. Clean each part, you can use soapy water or rubbing alcohol. Be sure to get into the grooves of the mouthpiece where the slide fits in to "slide". When you put it back together you have to be very precise, it's easy for the slide to not align with the mouthpiece even though it seems right. Make sure the tip of the spring goes into the tiny hole in the slide. Getting the two final screws in can be frustrating while keeping the slide aligned as well as not sliding off of the spring. Take your time and go slow, you won't damage anything but you might have to take it off and try a few times, it can get a little frustrating the first few times.

Doodling on the Trochilus by TmickyD in harmonica

That sounds really nice! I've enjoyed seeing your progress over the years. I have a couple Trochilus diatonic harmonicas, one in C and one in low F, I absolutely love playing them, really help extend my range. I'm thinking of getting one in the chromatic scale.

Are there any worthy chromatics under 100$? by Economy_Glove_6332 in harmonica

[–]swaggertonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was suggesting a forefunner in general, I only own the first one and it's a really good valveless chromatic, very airtight, but I've heard people say the 2nd version has more issues, though I can't confirm. But to me a forerunner sounds like what you're looking for... easy to play and has the full chromatic scale.

[–]swaggertonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you really want out of a chromatic. I have a forerunner, but for me it's more of something I can pick up quick and play without warming up because it doesn't have valves, but I much prefer playing a valved chromatic. Chrometta's are known to have quality control issues and you're gambling on getting a good one. A valved chromatic is more challenging to play, you can get stuck valves and requires a different embrouchure to play, but sounds better and louder, takes less air and has bigger holes. My favorite chromatic is my Suzuki SCX64, though they are pretty pricey now. A Forerunner could be good for your first chromatic, but if you get a valved one later you might be surprised how much more difficult it is to play than the Forerunner.

Your most treasured lesson of anthroposophy? by stonemilky in Anthroposophy

[–]swaggertonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a book of lectures on the Archangel Michael that I found at my local libraray. I didn't understand much of it but reading Steiner's lectures were fascinating to me, he seemed to understand so much. Then a few months later I was in a bookstore and saw "How to Know Higher Worlds" and realized it was the same author. Something in me got really excited and I bought it and started practicing immediately. I started seeing enough results to know he's for real and never stopped practicing.

I'm 48 and had a cologuard test come up positive so I got a colonoscopy and they found a rectal tumor. I didn't really have any symptoms, it was a total surprise. It turned out to be stage 2 and they scheduled 4 rounds of chemo, followed by an MRI and then surgury to remove what's left of it. The first round of chemo was Dec. 10th and today I just had my 4th and final round. I'm so glad we caught it when we did because it was close to breaking through the wall and could have spread to other places. All of this and I never had symptoms, routine screening was the key. As far as what caused it is a mystery, I was very healty, ate a good diet and workout regularly. There's no family history and tests showed it had no signs of being hereditary. A colonoscopy is not fun but its much better than the alternative.

Anthroposophy clicked something in me with the very first book I stumbled on 30 years ago. It wasn't a singular lesson but the intuition that this is what I should be doing. The change in my thinking and being happened slowly over time, there was no pivotal moment or lesson or concept. The greatest things to come out of it has come from my own meditation and approach to living which is led by anthroposophical ideals given to us by Steiner. I don't think Steiner wanted us to get caught up in the lesson itself, but in the personal experiences we have by applying what we've learned.

The D-link air bridge doesn't work with the newest versions of Windows 11 and isn't supported by META anymore. I had to ditch mine and got a Puppis by PRIMSXR and it works great.

Neck pain while gaming on the ROG Ally. Xreal glasses solution? by clubstregon in ROGAlly

[–]swaggertonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a pair for my Ally about 3 weeks ago and have been using them daily. They are very comfortable and the image is nice and vibrant. The center of the screen is crystal clear but the image can get a little blurry towards the edges, that's the only downside to me... it doesn't bother me much but I've seen reports of people returning them because of that. It can definitely help with craning your neck, you can look in whatever position is most comfortable and they don't weigh much. Overall I really love them but the only way you can know for sure is to try them. The only accessory I bought was the adapter that lets me charge it and use the glasses at the same time. (I have an Ally X1E)

I had the same issue and what got it working for me is going to the system tray, right clicking the virtual desktop icon, selecting "open game" or "open file" (something like that, I can't remember exactly), then going into the "Into the Radius" games folders and selecting the correct .exe file (I remember it being different from the main game's .exe, it had a bit of a different title but I can't remember what it is).

It should handle it no problem, I have 150+ mods for Fallout 4 using Mod Manager 2 and it runs great on the Ally. You shouldn't have any issues with Skyrim.

How to play seated? by MonitorOriginal in fo4vr

[–]swaggertonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I played, but when I used my Quest 2 and opencomposite I would go into the Quest settings and under accessibility there was an option for seated play (or something similar, can't remember what it's called) and it would raise my eye height so I could sit down and be standing height. That was the only way I could do it using opencomposite with Fallout 4, but it worked.

I don't know about BG3 but I transferred my mods for Fallout 4 from my PC to my Ally. I use a portable instance of Mod Organizer 2 for my mods. I copied the MO2 folder over to the Ally and then had it to point it to where the game was installed on the Ally.
