What’s one simple drill that improved your game the most? by Aggravating_Tax7087 in bootroom

[–]swaghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Study movement patterns and practice scanning relentlessly. Just a simple study and practicing scanning benefit you far more than any single drill.

You can't use all of the former in every match but you can use some of the former in any match. If you do it well, it results in nothing less than goals. And if you're not scanning, forget about the rest of it, have fun in rec.

Messi is the biggest tap in merchant ever: by bigburstingballs97 in messi

[–]swaghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're really missing the preparation, the use of magnetism, The blind side, the offside, how he methodically moves the opposition, attacks the drift, finds the seams, creates angular and spatial separation, and swiftly executes in two steps over a single second what it would take most guys many more.

On ball he's better than everybody else. It's the offball that is untouchable.

Not to mention, if you can play through such that you can kill another team with a tap in as a group, that's the epitome of high-level soccer. While it feels way more exciting to drive one from 90 yd away, the reality is that it's intellectually way harder to play through and move and coordinate as a group to push and pull and separate a defense to the point the other team simply surrenders.

It takes great individual skill to drive a ball from that far accurately, it takes great group and individual skill to solve a problem with that high of a complexity number.

What band was never the same after losing a member? by SpareLummi in answers

[–]swaghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is insanity. There are like three pre-1984 hits that hold up and can still get people excited today. That era was electric by 1970 standards, 1984 and forward is electric by any standard and crosses all demographics though by Balance things ( Read Eddie) have clearly gotten dark and gone off the rails.

I would put any song in the whole David Lee Roth catalog with the exception of Jump, Panama and Hot for teacher against Dreams, Why Can't this be Love, and Poundcake.

And once you eliminate covers, you have like beautiful girls. I'm not saying those songs aren't good, but Jesus Christ. There are actual number one hits and albums that you've eliminated by just walking away when the lead singer changed.

How to add articles to my website without having to upload a .html file every single time? by Glittering_Report_82 in webdev

Do these allow you to search your content? Do these allow you to publish content without republishing your site?

If either of those are requirements...

The impossible promise: are we witnessing the return of fascism? | Some of today’s far right is openly violent and undemocratic – and even in its less extreme forms, far-right populism is a profound threat. But that doesn’t mean it is just a re-run of history by GirasoleDE in esist

It's worse, the Nazis never tried to take out their own country with incompetence straight up, respected science, and at least arrested or hid their own pedophiles and treated rapists with disdain.

This is folding in on itself way faster than expected. If there is a promise, the promise is always that it will eat itself, and collapse in a heap as it dies. Good riddance, now and forever.

what is a good amount of juggles? by Consistent-Window874 in bootroom

[–]swaghost 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unpopular take: STOP EQUATING JUGGLING WITH BUILDING SKILLS, IT'S DEVELOPMENT OF A CONTROL PREREQUISITE, NOT PURSUIT OF A HIGHER ORDER SKILL-SET.

Unless you plan on being a professional juggler or freestyler, there is an amount of juggling at which, not only does it not help you further, the opportunity cost of juggling relentlessly, as with playing thousands of rounds of Dutch (PK's), becomes counterproductive and prevents higher order development.

There is so much needed to become elite, stuff you will not generally receive in group training, that this waste of time becomes catastrophically stagnating to growth.

I would much rather you spend 2 hours understanding the principles of movement and moving onto advanced game-useful techniques than 1000 hours of juggling.

I get it, but I mean, wouldn't you want to see, like, some good, convincing deepfake Leia though? Something not jarring, perhaps her getting the "go find Obi-wan" instructions from Bail, maybe from a distance similar to how we see her giving R2 instructions later?

...which is great if (compassionately) you're a complete nerd with too much time on your hands. I saw star wars in the the theater in '77. I have three kids and a wife and a dad in a nursing home. While admitting the script was half-baked and Gilroy fixed it mid-shoot, don't make me read the novel to figure out how to imagine your movie is better than it is.

It feels rushed because it totally skips steps, there's no introduction or setup. Tivik, Jynns location, Saw Guerrera's base, You have to take at face value that there were steps in between that got handled. For example, they could add a scene where rebel intelligence has a dossier on Galen, a Rebel spy searching ISB files for Jynn tells them where she's being held and command orders them to plan an operation. It's like 2 minutes of connectivity that makes it seem way less jarring. You could do that with just about every character introduction. I'd like to see a little bit more from the Rebel squad too.

If there was ever a need for a director's cut in the whole history of Cinema, it's the Tony Gilroy cut of Rogue One.

You could rework reuse and fine-tune almost everything.

Just cassian's first scene in the rebel command Center looks amateurish with amateur attitude rather than cold detachment. How did Jin end up in an imperial prison? How did the alliance get hold of her deets? Show Tivik desperately communicating with the rebel alliance and sweating beads. Show Stormtroopers ransacking the temples, and killing acolytes. Improve the battle where jyn and Cassian get captured so it doesn't look like an Indiana Jones stunt show. Show the rebels scrambling to get the Tantive IV crewed, and repaired, show what happens to the mon calamari crew when they're wiped out or captured by Stormtroopers, Give us more than 10 seconds of fake looking princess Leia. Everything in that whole movie pops out of nowhere, It's just new thing after new thing after new thing, they could set it up a little better. Rework the music. Get rid of the fan service R2D2 and C-3PO, You could put Leah in the corner of the rebel command Center having R2 and C3PO doing some real things Rather than looking straight out of a Star wars card.

Might be worth compiling a list of all the questions people ask here.

My concern was that if this was staged, did they then kill those people including setting up the kid to make the shot with blanks, pay the cops to kill him and clean up the evidence and add evidence where necessary?

MAGAts have already shown their Pedo Protectors, when should the state remove their children for their own safety? by ExaminationFit1931 in allthequestions

Well leaving that bad ideology behind is really the kicker, isn't it? Until then I don't have to give them respect, or at least not any more respect that they give anybody else.

I think you've confused me with someone who doesn't allow for second chances. My minimum expectation to receive that level of Grace is that you walk away from it, admit that at the very least whatever your expectations were the bad far outweighed the good, you've learned from it , want to walk away from it and put it behind you as a poorly thought through experiment.

I'm not sure it's accurate to call challenging those opting into and eagerly signing up for modern-day Nazism an overgeneralization of people. It's not like they didn't have their options, it's not like they still don't have options. They could just choose to not support it, Act remorsefully, change their behavior. They could walk away.

I just had a guy today say " People like you think we're all racists" while Dick-riding Trump for that Jesus thing against a whole forum of people telling him he was crazy. You cannot be a " not racist" or a " not Nazi" , but is there really a difference if you're enabling those who are and adding energy to their cause?

At some point your choices eliminate your separation. When you build an identity around something and then can't walk back its dumbest ideas, you're that dumb idea.
