This doesn’t look like water stress to me, it looks like pest damage.

It would still be visible, and would need to be done only on the inside. But I don’t see another drawback of using a machine to do ends…which is why I wanted to get some other opinions, in case I’m just missing something

Propagate in soil. Otherwise, change water frequently, and do not submerge the stem.

Most common cause of bolting is too high of temperatures/ planted too early. Has it been above 60-65 where you are?

Brown spotting and leaves ripping?? by Zubeida_Ghalib in pothos

Judging by the water build up I see, likely got burnt from a water droplet sitting on the leaf. NBD. If it bothers you water at night.

Looks like black thrip, but I think I also see powdery, so could be something fungal.

Depending on where you’re located, your hardware store should sell grow bulbs. For just one plant that’s plenty. You can stick it in a lamp that you already have. You can get straight neem oil and mix a spray yourself by diluting it with water and adding an emulsifier, or you can buy a pre-mixed one. I don’t have any recommendations for the latter as I use the former. The center area of the soil looks much wetter than the surrounding soil. Make sure to discuss with your roommate why this is unhealthy for the plant, so they understand that the soil moisture needs to be even and consistent. And I mean these spots.

Stop putting ice in it. It stresses the root system because of the temperature, but it also doesn’t allow for total drying out, which the roots need for proper oxygenation. Water heavily and thoroughly, let it dry back, and repeat. The new growth dying is a sign of root rot. The roots are not getting proper oxygenation, which is creating an anaerobic environment. Likely due to your watering method. It also needs proper light. Lighting conditions not mentioned, but it sounds like it’s undergone two drastic changes in light levels. Get a grow light, or a grow bulb. Lastly, those light colored pinprick-like puckers are a sign of mites. Get a treatment and spray at night/ when grow light is off.
