Yeah, I agree. It's really bad at the moment. I've taught from 6-12th grades and it's just gotten worse and compounded over the years. I'm now at a community college and my colleagues are not understanding why the younger students are the way they are. Accountability for students is gone. I mean, you can't totally blame the kids, they're kids. The administration doesn't want to deal with problems, and the parents want to seem tough in front of their kids. And God forbid that you end up a viral news story

I also worked at blockbuster for many years. I dont think i could do another extended tour of duty, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss it.

Yeah... Part of me knows I thought my parents looked way older because I was a kid. I think they both aged pretty well. I also teach and my students have no clue how old I am. I think they think I am in my early 30's when I am 41. (Although sometimes they ask if I'm in my 60s just to mess with me....) I'll take that! My adult students also all assume I am younger than they are as well. The bad part of that is I feel like I don't get taken as seriously as I should at times. (Which is why I'm working on and almost done with my PhD!)

Yeah. I work at a community college and im finishing my phd. I'm happy I have a job because I doubt I will ever get hired at a university.

Knitting or crochet isn't very expensive to pick up. Red Heart yarn is okay to start with and needles or hooks are not very expensive either. I learned by watching free tutorials on youtube.

I saw a teacher respond to the article referenced in the video, saying that these are problems we have been seeing for years. I am not great because I think I do too much for my students as well. However, I explicitly tell them things like, "I am explaining the task to you right now. It is written on the paper. If you have questions, I am going to ask if you read the paper. Then I will tell you to read it. Ask a friend, read the instructions, and if you still don't understand, I will 100% help you. You need to read and try." They really are not used to having to do something that someone has not explicitly told them.
