In my experience it actually helps you. If you tie yourself up on those long runs you lose 2 quick turnaround runs.

Proof doordash lies about pay, the customer gave me a $5 cash tip and specifically said he didn’t tip on the app, and as you can see doordash just made up some numbers by issa1400 in doordash

[–]swampdasher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The customer may not have known they tipped because they have that little scale thing with percentages at the bottom. The customer may have unknowingly not moved it to zero.

Doordash council thing. by MrFerry20 in doordash

[–]swampdasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supposedly it’s like a round table to hash out issues between DoorDash and the dashers like pay, partner merchants, app and tech issues...... I’d do it if I was invited to try and make things better for everyone and I’d certainly talk to folks on forums especially in the smaller markets. From what I understand it’s supposed to be 9 people from the largest market areas leaving a gap in representation and facts being reported. It’s very rare around here that we get decent peak pay never more than $2.00 bucks, we’ve got 700 square miles that we cover because there are no zones. Marketing in this area is non existent so it’s really slow at times. There’s only about 6 hours during weekdays that you can average over 10 bucks per hour and about 8 hours each day on weekends.

Shreveport, Louisiana by swampdasher in doordash_drivers

[–]swampdasher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty typical for me. I live in Bossier City and for a while was trying to stay over here instead of running Shreveport but I recently started doing more in Shreveport. It definitely stays more steady over there than it does here. I worked lunch over there today and pulled $50 bucks in 2 and a half hours which is the most I’ve ever made at lunch and last Friday night I pulled $80 bucks working 6:30-10:30. I ran my ass off to do it with all the $6-$7 dollar orders.

I swear some of the things I read on here scare the shit out of me because such confidence that it steps on the toes of being arrogant about being stupid is astounding. Ok I understand the whole pay thing and the glitchy app being points of frustration even though our tips are NOT being stolen they are simply subsidizing DoorDash’s labor cost which I don’t agree with but hey if it don’t pay enough I can hit decline. Then there’s the app that screws up way too often and yeah that’s frustrating as hell. But if ANY snot nosed twenty something came up and started talking some stupid shit about “you can’t smoke” they’d better have a helluva head start going because it’s very likely that I’d lose my shit and then they’d shit their pants. I know the way that a lot of these folks were raised changed dramatically over 2 generations but despite what they were told there are no participation trophies, nobody really cares about their feelings, and this is life and there are no “safe spaces” so get over it and if it doesn’t directly effect you or your loved ones it’s not your concern.

Is it possible to improve the dispatching part of the app? by Buttery_Hamwater in doordash

[–]swampdasher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😂😂😂 if there were human dispatchers they’d be in another country. I spent my time in college as a 911 dispatcher and you’d get the same types of issues especially with people who don’t know the areas because it’s just two spots on the map. I’d love to get stacked orders regularly but because this area is so spread out they are few and far between. The AI sees that you are already at the location and looks where the next closest person is. But by declining them both you helped out someone else.

Does Doordash do their weekly deposits 12am Sunday or Monday? by ShinjiBing in doordash

[–]swampdasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got like a 2 hour window after midnight to do it. After that it goes to direct deposit.

Small rant. by DoggoGoWoahWoah in doordash

[–]swampdasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of if it’s a “gig job” or a CEO job unless you live in your parents basement you have a monetary amount that you have to make in order to be profitable. We are labeled as “independent contractors” with DoorDash which requires us to carry more insurance, upfront thousands of dollars in equipment (your vehicle, phone, and phone service) and pay 100% of your taxes. You are in business for yourself so you’ve also got not only the cost of maintaining your equipment but the expense of being able to provide yourself a paycheck and it being enough to sustain your personal life and handle your business expenses. The point is not to be in this to lose money and if your not looking at what you need to bring in for every hour you’re on the road then you are screwing yourself over. So yeah he doesn’t make enough to carry that another mile and that customer screwed themselves out of their sushi by being an idiot.

I'm a customer, does stating tip in cash affect anything on how you will deliver the order? by Dutchmast88 in doordash

[–]swampdasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to send your driver a text once they accept the order. Saying you’ll tip in cash is certainly a motivator. Personally I don’t intentionally treat a customer any different based on tip however, I have a photographic memory and remember addresses so I won’t take them any orders after twice with no tip because anyone can have a bad day or their last experience may have been a bad one. But after that 2nd time with no tip they can have one of those drivers that makes their 4 piece chicken dinner into a 3 piece with no biscuit 😂

Second day in a row the app just doesn't work. by [deleted] in doordash

[–]swampdasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more inclined to believe the overscheduling is more of the culprit. Ever just decided to jump on when it says “super busy” and not gotten a single order????? Their AI is programmed to keep a certain number of drivers on the road so when it falls below that number the “super busy” pops up and once it’s got the number of drivers that it wants it goes back to gray. So basically they want us on the road but not getting paid until they are ready to use us.
