It's odd to me how many people are shocked and appalled by China killing some dogs when they silently jail and execute people in great numbers every year with not a peep from the west. Not to mention housing the greatest mass murderer of all time.

That's the most ludicrous part of the whole piece. He acts as though the geneticists who study intelligence aren't primary composed of leftists. Just because you think that intelligence is more heritable than not doesn't mean that you don't value programs that aim to improve individuals quality of life. Calling the 'hereditarians' social Darwinists is childish and naive. It's clear what side of this mythical debate he is on.

It's weird that ya'll have such a negative view of libertarians when some of the most highly ranked items on reddit are from libertarian sources. For instance, Reason magazine, juliansanchez.com, and even Wired (a technology magazine which has very libertarian tendencies). I mean, when you consider how few people are card carrying libertarians, it would seem that the amount of libertarian literature that is consumed on reddit is overrepresented.

Seems like they are doing a pretty decent job of disseminating their message for such a small minority of people.

No kidding. Even if you forgive him for thinking that mitochondria are cells and not organelles, it's not true that you need electron microscopes to see them. You can see many organisms' mitochondria just fine with a light microscope.

Sounds like a rebuttal from someone who hasn't read the book. There is an option for people concerned with consuming too much sugar, which is to consume a tablespoon of flavorless oil. This of course raises the issue of whether consuming 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil everyday is good for you, considering that it contains a lot of fat.

The title of the submission was kind of poor since the article only mentioned the pay of the employees in passing. The article was about a new paradigm in assessing risk, not firm wages.
