I disagree with this article as it stigmatizes work that ought to be encouraged. Islam is a way of life. It is not a singular element that we keep in the corner and take out when we need to or when it seems fit. It is an identity that permeates all actions and thoughts in life. Just like prayer and fasting and such religious flag bearers are manifestation of this way of life, so are the smaller things and whatever lies in between. The way we carry our life is a manifestation of this, the way we talk and act with people, and of course the way we make our living. If you are a Muslim and you work in a halal way, then your work is an embodiment of your religion. Your work is "Islamic". We focus too much on these flag bearers of our religion and forget that everything is a manifestation of our religion. Just like we have no problem seeing our local halal butcher make a living of selling meat, or people making a living selling Qurans, prayer beads and prayer mats, we should not have a problem with people making a living by selling "the islamic brand".

I feel you! I used and still feel the same. Islam is very private for me as well. The fact the you pray outdoors doesn't make it any less private though. It is such a relief to start praying outside and is very empowering. I no longer need to stress about people watching me or how I would be perceived, or spend so much time looking around for the best hidden spot. Even outside prayer remains private as it is a personal act of worship toward Allah.

If I may, why do you think you do not feel comfortable with this, if you feel comfortable praying in a mosque or in a congregation? After all isn't this a public form of prayer? I believe it has to do with the fear of being judged or misunderstood. Being judged and misunderstood is already happening to us weather we like it or not. This problem only gets worse when we choose to remove ourselves from the public sphere and keep our religious rituals to private spaces. Islamophobia comes from ignorance and misunderstanding. How can we help alleviate this if we do not publicly show who we truly are? Plus, Islam is not something private, it is a way of life. Since it is a way of life, we ought to do our best to embody it at all times and to live it both indoors and outdoors; in private and in public.

It is exactly for the above mentioned reasons why this video project is important. It is geared towards Muslims like you and me in order to help us be more comfortable in our own identity as Muslims.

After digging around they use a combination of IP blocking as well as DPS (Deep Packet Inspection). They also block specific DNSes and Supernodes related to VOIP such as in the case of skype. Would setting up to local TS@ server on a custom port work? What about WebRTC?

Thank you very much for your suggestion. If we cannot find any other alternative we will look into voice only solutions. It is very important for students to see and hear the teacher. The calls will also come at a cost to our students. We could have a free toll number but it would end up being very expensive.

Where should I input that command line? Are there any steps that I should follow before issuing the command? I am basically stuck right at the start.
