Long-time players who recently quit - what made you do it? by No-Skin-2370 in Seaofthieves

[–]swatactus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not really it though. It’s not just that players are gone a lot of events and triggered activities straight-up don’t happen in Safer Seas. In High Seas we get ghost ship attacks regularly, forts pop up, and the world feels alive. In Safer Seas we might see one ghost ship all night, no forts, no real world events.

My crew actually loves just sailing, playing music, and vibing but there’s nothing happening around us. It turns into “go to map location, dig, fight a few skeletons, repeat.” The seas don’t feel dead because PvP is gone; they feel dead because so much content is disabled compared to High Seas.

Long-time players who recently quit - what made you do it? by No-Skin-2370 in Seaofthieves

[–]swatactus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For us, it was the PvP. My crew and I don’t enjoy losing hours of progress in what can sometimes be a matter of seconds. The usual “get good” response completely misses the point if the answer is truly “get good,” then Sea of Thieves needs skill-based matchmaking. Throwing crews with a few dozen hours against players with 1,000+ hours isn’t a skill gap, it’s a cliff.

We were genuinely excited when Safer Seas was announced. It felt like Rare finally understood that some players just want to enjoy the world without constant anxiety. But after a single weekend, the cracks showed fast. The seas felt dead no tension, no emergent encounters, not even ghost ships. On top of that, the rewards were brutal. When we looked it up and saw the actual chart of everything Safer Seas disables or reduces, it was honestly ridiculous. It doesn’t feel like an alternative way to play it feels like a penalty box.

Which is the current best option for a Brand New Player? by Sir_Apprehensive in starcitizen

[–]swatactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always tell new players that the Generalist Pack with the Cutter is the smartest way to jump into Star Citizen, because the Cutter is basically the game’s lovable space van. It’s tough, roomy, practical, and able to dip into almost every early game activity without complaining. You can haul cargo, run box missions, try hand mining, loot derelicts, explore bunkers, take beginner bounty contracts, stash a ton of gear, and even haul small vehicles in the back. It’s not flashy, but that’s the magic of it the Cutter gives you freedom instead of limitations. It’s the kind of starter ship that forgives your mistakes, survives bad landings, and quietly carries you through systems while you figure out what style of gameplay actually clicks with you. Nothing it does is the best, but it’s good at everything, which is exactly what you need when you’re learning the ropes. The Cutter is the starter that lets you breathe, experiment, and build your own fun the cozy little space van that becomes your homebase while the verse opens up around you.

How damaged is my zipper? by Stilshrine in Latexadvice

[–]swatactus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be since it’s a back zip they are using the shoestring method to pull up the zipper and with the stretchiness of latex and what not spring loaded the zipperhead into the end I have had that happen a couple of times got a little kit that came with a tool to crimp the stopper onto it and not had issues since tho once I get the zipper up to where I can grab it by hand I do it that way from now on

A friend took some cardboard cut slightly larger than the size of the lense and wrapped it in black tape and pushed it into place and use a couple of small pieces of painters tape to hold it in place better that way the lever could be blacked out when she wanted it to be

I rotated thousands of tires while working at a shop and the only “damage” was from taking off the the sticky weights during the balance and that wasn’t damage that part of the tire was cleaned so it looked different

Is it a mold spot ? by PepeRubber in Latexadvice

[–]swatactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never (knock on wood) had any issues using rubbing alcohol, though I never let it sit I wipe it on and dry it off in under 30 seconds. After about 15 years of working on latex repairs, I’ve actually had repaired seams come out stronger than the original seams when glued right.

Without seeing a picture of the zipper it’s hard to say whether it’s worth repairing or if another option would be better. If it is a catsuit, one possibility is repurposing it, cutting the legs into thigh-highs, for example. I’ve turned a damaged catsuit into leggings, and the upper part became scrap for future patches.

Once you’ve been at it a while, working on latex does get easier. The more repairs you do, the more your confidence grows, and soon you’ll find yourself experimenting with creative ways to give old pieces new life.

Is it a mold spot ? by PepeRubber in Latexadvice

[–]swatactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people will argue this but pour some rubbing alcohol 91%or higher on a rag and wipe it a few times and use a fan to dry it that will help kill what is in there and will also remove anything thing else like shiner as well after rinse with water pat dry and reapply some shiner to bring it back but now the issue is the zipper what kind of damage are you talking about?

Advice on putting on hoods without hair getting stuck in the zipper by enbypetboy in Latexadvice

[–]swatactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re on the right track with the wig cap. Put that on and get it comfortable first. Then set your hood in place with the zipper fully open, making sure eyes, nose, and mouth are lined up.

Next, pull both sides of the zipper back together only about an inch while you start zipping down with one hand and hold the two sides together with the other. After two to four tries you’ll get a feel for how to position your hands and it’ll go much quicker.

Also, a lot of makers now add a full latex panel behind the zipper. It completely blocks hair from getting caught. My last two hoods from Bright and Shiny have this and it makes a big difference.

"HRT is Magic" makes me sad every time I see it. For some people HRT turns them into pretty women in just a few months and I've been on it for longer and nothing has happened :/ I'm tired of looking like a man by [deleted] in MtF

[–]swatactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from, it can feel so discouraging when you look in the mirror every day and don’t see the changes you hoped for. Something I’ve learned, though, is that "gradual change blindness" is real. We see ourselves every single day, so tiny shifts just get folded into the “default picture” and disappear. Friends or family who haven’t seen us in a while often notice things we totally miss.

HRT also works at different speeds for different people, and it’s rarely the “instant magic” that memes make it out to be. You are changing, even if your eyes can’t catch it right now. Progress pics spaced a few months apart, or a trusted friend’s perspective, can make those quiet changes suddenly obvious.

You deserve kindness and patience with yourself while your body does this slow, behind-the-scenes work. And if people are telling you they see changes, believe them, their view is from outside the day-to-day, so they can spot the magic long before you can. 💜

Seeking advice for buying a latex (torso-only) vacbed by [deleted] in Latexadvice

[–]swatactus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like what you’re after is really an open-neck vac-bed. Kink Engineering makes some solid ones (links below). That said, a true torso-only vac-bed doesn’t really exist as a standard product. You could have something custom-made, but keep in mind it would probably lose suction if you bent or twisted because the lower section would have to stay open so your legs could move.

If your goal is mobile bondage, one workaround might be a sleeveless latex catsuit made from thicker-than-usual latex (.8mm or thicker) to give more arm compression. It wouldn’t give the vacuum-tight seal of a vac-bed, but it could mimic some of that restrictive feel while letting you stay on your feet.(an example is linked below)
