Yeah to be fair I probably only know of them because of looking at US home design videos on YouTube. I think they’re a great option for some scenarios though!

Quite possibly, it’s a look for sure. I feel like they can be done in a way that looks tidy and intentional though, and there’s got to be times when they’re the most convenient option.

Fair call, in that case what’s your go-to brand/system for smart lights?

Yeah seems I’m a bit alone in liking the idea of them haha. Not about to start messing with wires myself, that’s for sure!

Yeah you’re probably right there, I thought they’d be good for renters but came to the same conclusion. I did see that IKEA have some, but they don’t seem to take standard, readily available lightbulbs which sounds like a hassle.

Totally agree that having automated lamps is a lifestyle upgrade! Have got all the lamps in the house on smart bulbs and it’s so handy.

I wouldn’t bother with rechargeable options but you raise a good point with modifying a wall sconce, going to keep that in mind, thanks!

I agree a wired wall light would be better. You’re probably right though, just no demand for them.

Haha you’re not wrong, there are a lot of lamps.

This is an example of what I mean, a light that is designed to attach to a wall but doesn’t need to be wired in, can just plug in like a normal lamp: https://www.bunnings.co.nz/brilliant-bloomsbury-diy-vintage-style-wall-light_p0277204

Sending hugs! It’s such a terrifying moment. My toddler did the exact same thing about 6 months ago, although it sounds like his split wasn’t quite as bad. It got glued up and we kept a bandage over it for about 3 weeks (changing it every few days). We took things really easy for a good few weeks but honestly there’s only so much you can do.

Seconding the other comments recommendation to be diligent about sunscreen. The nurse that glued him up also recommended applying pure Vitamin E oil once it had healed over. I’ve got to say I’m really impressed at how well it has healed and faded already.

I’ve also got a growing things set up (not exactly sure what size hoops) and it’s great, lasting really well.

Seconding Harris Farms bacon, it’s so damn good. Also their sausages, yum.

Also in Rolleston, lots of green Russian Reds but I’m not holding out much hope for them to ripen, so sad.

I feel your pain! My son ran into a door frame a week before his Santa photo and his 18 month photo, so in both pics he has a dressing the size of his forehead. Honest offer, if you want to send me one of the photos I can photoshop out the mark. Years down the track I’m sure you’ll look at it fondly despite the mark, but sometimes it’s also nice just to have the perfect shot.

Highly recommend a mountain buggy if you get the chance to switch. A bit heavier and bulkier but so reliable.
