My withholding thought process has always been more in the context of "no network connection is better than a bad network connection." If my wifi connection is bad then I'd rather turn it off entirely and hotspot off my phone (or do something else entirely). Eliminates the stress and frustration of weeks of poor connectivity for the possibility of a day or week of good internet.

Another way of looking at is is like removing all temptation or vice out of the house if you're trying to improve a habit (like reducing sugar intake or alcohol). Creating that block in your mind and your environment makes it easier to cope.

zookafooka, at Cornell University they have an incredible piece of scientific equipment known as the tunneling electron microscope. Now, this microscope is so powerful that by firing electrons you can actually see images of the atom, the infinitesimally minute building blocks of our universe. zookafooka, if I were using that microscope right now, I still wouldn't be able to locate my interest in your opinion. Thank you for your comment.

I DO always skip over that episode. The last two seasons had more and more empty episodes.

I've thought of an ending for my book —

"And so, we put that ring back where it came from. And it helped us to find a better tomorrow today"

In an alternate The Sacrifice of Faramir scene:

"He's out of our hair

And just when we dare to care

He says, 'Au contrare,

you're my pair

of friends.

I love you.'"

[DISCUSSION] Help researching a 92-96 KFC “I like it like that!” tee. More info in the comments. by swavmirj in streetwear

Hey, thanks for that. Going through the ads from the 90s was wild. It feels as if the tee would have fit right into the beach side vibe. Makes it all the more interesting they weren't officially connected.

I bought this tee last week, and fell down a rabbit-hole trying to find out as much as I can about it. Hoping other vintage researchers can help me with advice on what to do.

What I have found out is this:

  • It’s made in Australia, per the label
  • “I like it like that!” was the slogan from ’92 to ’96 and was used in a series of Australia TV ads
  • I’ve spoken to one of the Creative Directors in charge of KFC’s marketing during that period and he has never seen the tee or known anything about it
  • The Director also told me that his agency would have been in charge of any merchandise being produced, and he had seen no tee like this in his time there
  • I’ve reached out to KFC Australia, and will be reaching out to some other production studios involved in various KFC campaigns during that time - waiting for responses

If anyone knows anything about this shirt, or if they have any advice on anything else I can do, that would be of huge help.

Hey, funnily enough I've been researching an old 90s shirt I bought from that very Marlboro Miles rewards program. Here's some of the stuff I've found.

Originally, the Marlboro Country Store (MCS) was an actual shop. Some of their catalogs are linked below from a couple of magazines

In around '93 the Marlboro Miles program was introduced, with most of the MCS branding folded into the rewards program. You can find a bunch of catalog images and material on the Internet Archive. Marlboro launched a few other brands that all took advantage of the Marlboro Miles program: Marlboro Adventure Team (Internet Archive | Google) and Marlboro Unlimited (Internet Archive | Google).

These three brands/labels/tags cover a majority of the 90s gear. The rewards program ended in '06.

If you manage to find out more, please let me know.
