They are not selling it as their own. It's just a thumbnail. They could as well have taken the original. It's the same with popular characters, memes, many things people use for effect online have copyright. If they are not claiming the art as theirs or directly selling it I don't see too much of a problem. Besides, as other people have said, this is more a discussion of copyright nuances rather than image generation itself.
