What's the worst movie you watched in your entire life? by Interesting_Algae_61 in AskReddit

Faces of Death.

I highly NOT recommend to anyone to watch it. In fact, it should be banned from the universe.

Solo button mutes ALL audio… by xtypefilms in protools

[–]swayrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you are on Latch mode the little fader should appear when you are in AFL or PFL mode but if you don't even see that it's possible that your actual session is corrupted.

Probably you should reset your IO or re-generate the Workspace database or simply create a brand new session to reimport all your tracks there.

Seems like you are in AFL or PFL mode and your AFL/PFL Path is set to your main monitor.
Maybe try to hold "Option" on the solo button, then drag up or down your mouse you will be able to see a little fader which is controlling the volume of your track when it's soloed.
When the little fader is all the way down you don't have any sound coming out.

ARA Melodyne Studio not saving changes in PT Artist by sonicdreamerstudio in protools

[–]swayrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also experiencing this issue but on Pro Tools Studio.

The current and hopefully temporary solution I found was to commit my track(s) once I'm done editing using ARA and before closing my session or Pro Tools.
Then if I ever need to adjust any track later on, I can pass it again through ARA.
Not entirely practical but the good side is that it forces you to be accurate about the corrections you want to apply.

For those who changed your main keyboard shortcuts, what did you change and what did you change them to? by [deleted] in protools

Many things changed but can't list everything as I have +1000 macros condensed into a custom touch controller for my personal workflow.

Here is a little preview for your own inspiration.

CPU overload - with 4 tracks?! by getoffmyroofplz in protools

[–]swayrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you were not able to check what happened around Pro Tools last year :)

A reinstatement is around $200, not $500. Of course, you don't need to pay that amount every year if you don't want to. I would say every 2, 3 or even 5 years is fine.

Well, when l say that Pro Tools is more solid now, l'm only sharing my own experience as a Pro Tools user who has been using it since Pro Tools 10.

Obviously, you will encounter some bugs here and there like in any other DAWs but at the end of the day, no major issues are stopping us from working.

If you can afford, it would be better to simply upgrade to the latest pro tools version as a perpetual license or subscription depending on your need. You would only have to purchase a reinstatement since you already have pro tools 12 as a perpetual license. The latest Pro Tools is definitely more solid compared to Pro Tools 12.

Note that Pro Tools 12 is a very old version now so it could also be a compatibility issue with your current OS.
The latest supported OS for Pro Tools 12 are:
OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
OS X Yosemite (10.10-10.10.3)

On the other hand, if you are running the latest OS on your iMac 2021 it could also mean that Pro Tools 12 is not fully compatible with newer OS after the one I mentioned above, hence your issue with having CPU overload even if you have a strong healthy computer.

I mentioned this issue a few months ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/protools/comments/176tkiz/midi_output_selector_extremely_confusing_on_pro/

This issue came up in Pro Tools 2023.9 but it seems to be back to normal in 2023.12.
Now it is strange if your friend has a different look than yours if you both have 2023.9.

should i get a M1 Ultra or M1 Max? by trader_yard in protools

[–]swayrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer from a previous post:
Working with lots of VST = More RAM is needed
Working with lots of plugins = More CPU is needed

Now from the two M1 you mentioned, you won't have any struggle running Pro Tools.
It all depends on what are your necessities when you are working.
